I'll most likely camp the night before since its a 3hr drive for me. Do people just pitch tents outside and/or sleep in cars?

I think another option for me is to ride up the day before, stay at a motel, and ride to the track in the morning. Then hopefully I can find someone to carpool back down.

You can camp in the paddock insde the track facility. Its pretty safe and lots of people will be there camping. There are bathrooms, some areas have outlets and showers etc. I used to ride to Thill from San Leandro the night before, stay at a motel and ride to thill in the morning (~10min ride). The problem is if you crash or have issues with the bike, you will need to find a ride home. And anything can happen, rocks blew holes in my radiator first track day, and my 2nd the throttle return cable snapped. So make sure your maintainance is up to date and dont try to push your limits on the track and you will be fine.

I would not recommend riding home after a track day, especially given how hot it'll probably be

Taze away, Yana...
There is free camping available Friday, and Saturday night. There is however no camping Sunday night. So if you did decide to ride only Saturday you could camp that night and head home in the morning all fresh. If you decide to ride on Sunday you would need a hotel, or to ride home Sunday night. That's a little dangerous because you'll be tired as hell. This is not a ride in the woods with the boys, it's using the entire body and mind at your absolute maximum all day. I have a hard time just driving home after a track day. Haha! That and 80mph feels like you're craaaaaawling!

Anyone have a recommendation for good shops that aren't too pricey to get my bike looked over? I'm fairly new to getting hands on with vehicles and I'd like to do my own work, but right now I only have street parking. I wanted to do a private session at motoguild so I could learn on my own, but seems like they're pretty busy.

I just want to ensure that everything on my bike is track ready(sprocket, chain, bearings, suspension, etc.) so I'm not met with an unfortunate surprise on the day of.
I'd also love to work on it with a Barfer if anyone is willing to help a poor beginner out!

I've had good experiences with meteor motorbikes down in Oakland. To your list imo checking brake pad life and flushing the brakes would be my top things to do pre-trackday.

I'll probably be at moto-guild either this Thursday or sometime over the weekend to do some light prep and I'd be happy to help out with whatever.

Sorry I'm just seeing this. The only shop I could recommend is Catalyst Reaction, but they are in San Carlos. May be more of a trek then you want. They do the best work though. You see many a race bike in their shop on any given day.

Let me know if you go this weekend; going to a concert tonight. I'd definitely take you up on your generous offer!

Super excited for this; still can't believe I won!

Also Duck_rider, I'll be coming from SF as well and looking for a way to get my bike up. We could potentially rent a truck and get some tie downs?

Hi! I was wondering if you guys had this figured out yet? I've got a newbie rider buddy who's looking for a ride from sf as well, if u guys have more space, would u guys wanna bring him in to reduce ur costs more?

We haven't got it figured out yet. Going to start to work things out tonight.

Sounds good, let me know if you need any additional support or resources for this event. I'm in daly city, so pretty close by. I was a former contributor to the noob track days but I haven't been online much these days. I'll be going too, so looking forward to meeting you guys. :)

Got my rear brake issue taken care of. Hoping to replace air filter, spark plugs, and lube the cables before the track day. Bought a trailer hitch ball for the 4runner, just need some straps now. Was going to rent the small motorcycle trailer from uhaul but if someone needs a tow up to Thunderhill, let me know. We can go up a trailer size to fit another bike though I'm not familiar with strapping down the bikes, so will definitely need to look up some guides on that. I'm planning to leave Friday evening and return Sunday afternoon.

Also, I was hoping to add Sunday - Should I buy just buy another Novice ticket through the website?

That's is what I did. If you hear different, let us know so I can hopefully change it up.

Yup, if you want to run Sunday (and you will kick yourself sun the butt if you don't) just go to the Z2 site and sign up.

I just realized it's getting sooo close!
