Check out the old prep threads because so many of your questions are there. However, if you can't find what you’re looking for, or have any questions about how all this will work, don't hesitate to ask.

Awesome! I'm in San Francisco and looking for ways to get my bike up there. Does anyone have open space on a trailer? I have a car that can sit 3 others (4 total) relatively tightly.

As far as gear, I have gauntlet gloves and sport boots but I'll need full leathers. Are there leather rentals available?

And as far as dates, I saw July 14th is Sunday. So noob track day is Sunday and second day is Monday, July 15th?

Hell yeah! I've got most things already. I'll be coming from Sacramento. I need boots and a helmet (mine won't pass tech cause its too old). Also, my tires might need to be changed but I'll see. Now I Just have to get someone to cover me at work for the day...

Super excited for this; still can't believe I won!

Also Duck_rider, I'll be coming from SF as well and looking for a way to get my bike up. We could potentially rent a truck and get some tie downs?

Lmk if you guys end up doing that. I'm in SF and can bring tie downs and help you guys load.

Let me know if anyone has space on their trailer and is coming through Oakland!

Now to get that rear brake working....

edit: Also, thanks for posting the past threads. Really helpful in what to expect.

Welcome aboard!

The old threads really do help. That's why the first one has so many questions and the last one has so few. Being able to link them all together really saves a ton of time.

If do you have a question you haven't been able to find the answer don't hesitate to ask.

shouldnthave, for some reason, I can't PM or DM you the information you requested in the email. Is there another way I can get it to you? I thought it was because of my low post count but not sure.

I got your email. You have PMs turned off, so it defaults to email. I have everyones info except one, and he is on a motorcycle tour in Washington right now.

That said, thanks for the info gang! I'll pass that on to David as soon as Oobus has a chance to get back to me.

Lets take a sec to talk about gear. Who here has the gear they need, and who needs bits? What kind of riding boots do you all have?

What about bikes? Are they all sorted with good tires?

Jacket: Dainese Avro
Pants: Dainese New Drake Air (textile)
Boots: TCX Infinity
Gloves: Racer gauntlet gloves
Helmet: HJC RPHA 70 ST, Arai RX-Q

SV650 with decent tires. Not crap. Not great. Slightly old. Rear brake master cylinder might've seized so will need to get that checked out soon. A bit worried about my boots in the tucked position for long periods so might look into a pair of sportier ones.

Those boots should be fine as long as they are comfortable and you can quickly articulate the controls. It's really all about ankle support should you do something stupid. You won't have to worry too much about being in a tuck for too long if you do it right.

As for the brake, you'll need to get that working for sure. I (and many others) don't actually use the rear brake while on the track. If you do happen to miss a turn and end up riding in the dirt you'll need that little dude to stop. If yah try and stop on the dirt with the front brake, you're gunna eat shit. Luckily parts for the SV650 are quite prevalent.

Helmet: Getting a new one next week. I will make sure it's what the z2 site is okay.
Suit: Bilt 1 piece leather
Back protector: Alpine star Nucleon
Boots: Alpine star Sector. Looking to upgrade as I want better ankle protection... Looking at SIDI Vertigo 2 maybe?
Gloves: Sedici Ultimo

Bike: 2002 GSX-R600. Needs tires. Still looking through the old threads for previous years trackdays to see what people are running. Any suggestions?

Gonna tear the bike apart to clean and service it next week. I'm a couple miles away from the Suzuki dealership if any problems arise.

Nice!

Those A* short boots are a no go at the track. If you're going to get SIDI boots try them on. They run a bit wide in my experience. I have never loved a pair of boots more than my A* Supertech-Rs, but I understand $500 is a bit of a pill to swallow. I hear good things about the SMX6 v2 too. Whatever you get make sure it's all very well vented.

As for tires, I'm not much help. I haven't run anything but slicks, or DOT racing tires in about 6 years both on and off the track. A lot of people like the Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa though. I also remember Q3 being a big deal, but I've never been a Bridgestone fan for no real reason than availability.
