N00b track day prep thread 2019.

still a noob
robert did you figure out how to get your bike up there?

I did! Thanks everyone for all the help. I got a ride from someone who posted in the roll call thread. Big relief; I was pretty stressed about it.

Unfortunately I've got very limited tools with me in the city right now; would one of the more experienced riders be able to help get my lights/mirrors track ready on Friday night? If not I can probably make it work regardless.

Should also pull fuse for headlight as heat bakes on glue from tape. You'll end up pulling tape off in millions of little strips.

Also pulling tail/brake-light fuses removes need to tape them, saves lots of time.

We try to make the whole prep thing as easy and low-stress as possible. Most sport bikes have plastic lenses over the headlight so you don't have to tape them, unplug them, or anything else. Leave 'em just the way they are. If you ride a Monster for example, and your headlight is glass, just throw a few strips of electrical tape across your headlight like you're slicing a pizza. The primary reason for this is to minimize shattering in the unlikely event of a crash. Forget blinkers altogether. Leave them alone. For the tail light, best to unplug it as mentioned. If that's not an option, put a layer of painter's tape and then duct tape over the painter's tape. That should do it. No light should be seen when the brake is actuated even if you put your face right next to the light.

When you get a minute, definitely read everything on the FAQ page here: https://z2trackdays.com/frequently-asked-questions/
That page covers prep but also policies, special deals, etc.

See everyone on Saturday.

Taze away, Yana...
For anyone worried about getting through tech, that's what I'll be doing for you all morning. I'll be there to make sure your bikes are ready on Friday and walking you through the whole process in the morning. That's what this whole event is about. Getting you out on track as painlessly as possible.

On the plus side it looks like we lost 2° on Saturday's high temp. Whoo!

The Z2 C group pre event email just went out, if anyone has questions that we can help you with my email is at the bottom. (hint: mike@z2trackdays.com)

J and Bassem have done a fantastic job as always to prep y'all, and we'll get them up in front of the room for the riders meeting to talk about n00b day and this years riders on Saturday morning.

It's going to be an amazing day, we've got a ton of classroom info and riding time for you to help make your day perfect. The weather is going to be great, track grip will be outstanding.

And just so it's been said - we've got 15 instructors coming out to work specifically for you and with you.

So if you want on-track help or conversations in the pits about riding issues that you are struggling with, that's what we're here for. We'll be pitted right next to you under the canopy.

Don't be all shy and shit, that's verboten - grab these guys and put them to work. We've got a fantastic staff with a boat load of riding experience (you'll see the numbers in the 2nd riders meeting, it's pretty impressive) so no matter the question around how to ride the track, they can help you. Ask questions, they are here to help you be better on the track.

Looking forward to meeting everyone, be sure and come up to say hello and introduce yourself, I'm the large grey haired guy with the big smile, Alan (scotinexcile) will be the guy that talks funny who'll be up front in the riders meetings with me dropping pearls of wisdom on your head.

I'm excited!

Haha! You keep saying that like I'm going to prepare something. Haha!

I have been slaving over the stove though preparing for Saturday lunch. The BBQ is going to be on point! I always seem to run out of BBQ sauce so this year I'm making two quarts. That better be enough for all you hooligans this year. That tasty takes hours.

Thanks again Dave, Bassem, and Mike! It was an absolute blast, perfect introduction to track riding. I can safely say I'm hooked. 90% sure I'll be joining you guys at Sonoma next month, it not definitely for another weekend at some point later in the season.

Great time had by all! You guys did a great job of making us feel a part of the moto group and comfortable with what was going on throughout the day. Wonderful experience and I walked away learning a ton, and will be a much, much better rider on the street. Learned a whole bunch on bike control: I'll be back again! Would love to do the back circuit on my 690 with the supermoto wheels.

Special thanks for all the food and refreshments which made a hot day bearable!
