Which is 90% of the use case for pickup trucks, not galavanting and adventuring.

How about going to the mall to get Cinabon? That’s how I wanna use my truck. And I’ll put cargo in the cab thank you very much. Throw stuff in the bed all cavalier and shit? You might scratch the bed liner!

Srsly tho. I will totally make mall runs with it.

They do ride like Cadillacs compared to the heavy duty trucks, i will say that.

Except for the height, which is significantly taller than back in the olden days. Way, way taller.

Hmmm...

My last F-150 was the 2017 Crew Cab 4X2. Height maxed out at 75.3 inches. The one before that was a 2011 extended cab 4X2 which maxed out at 75.2 inches. Before that, it was a 2004 regular cab 4X2 which had a spec height of 72.8. The 2001 extended cab 4X2 I had before that one was also 72.8 so really, unless you mean farther back than 20 years ago, I'm going to have to say no, they haven't gotten massively taller. They may LOOK like they have, but they're really within inches of each other if not the same. Regardless, 72.8 versus 75.3 is not a significant difference at all.

As a footnote, my current 2019 Crew Cab Ranger 4X4 is 71.8 inches tall and the 4X2 version comes in at 71.2 so there's really not even much of a difference between the two in stock form.

All data is from Edmunds, FYI.

More like 98+%

Have you been in a Lariat or higher trim F250 or F250 lately? The only thing that is heavy duty about them is what they'll pull or haul. The interior is just as plush as anything Cadillac sells and the suspension is like a riding on a cloud.

I use my trucks to do everything as I suspect many people that own their trucks do. I find myself needing a truck far more than finding myself wishing I had a small car so I compromise and get a mid-size truck. I loved my F-150s, but they're just too big now.

As someone who owns a 17' f250, you're wrong. The half tons ride way better.

Pre-1994. Dodge Ram trucks started all of this in 1994 when they came up with a "more masculine" design. Ever since then all of the truck manufacturers have been trying to see who can make theirs look more like a Peterbilt.

Park your new truck next to anything before 1994 and it will be way taller. Especially if measured from the rocker panels on up.

And what does all of this have to do with the 2021 Bronco anyway?

We have a F350 Lariat at work. Comparing that to the many F-150s I've had, I disagree. That Lariat is a cloud.

Maybe I'm just more picky than you :p

I had a 2015 half ton before this truck (was a pos but that's another story), put 60k on it before i washed my hands of it. Had this 17 since then and right under 100k miles on it. It's a lariat with leather. They don't compare imo. Glad your butt can't tell the difference tho lol.

I have a 1967 Ford f100 longed. I also have a 2007 chevy silverado 1500 4x4 4 door with a "leveling kit" that's a~2" lift and it's on 33" tires.

I havent parked them side by side but they're effectively the same.length and width. The Chevy. FEELS huge to me. Maybe it's the tinted windows? The f100 feels about the same size as the '84 escort unlearned to drive on.

I've had a unimog, and a 4" lifted land ruiser on 33" tires. I'm not exactly a stranger to larger trucks. The footprint hasnt changed much, hell the unimog fit in a compact space. Something about newer trucks they're just huge.

I can't stand the size of these new trucks!

Here's the perfect example of what you're saying...

The closer Ford is a 250, while the rear one is a 350.

Well when truck has turned in to a luxury vehicle, more space is needed to accommodate trinkets, and give room to passengers.

This phenomenon is not just limited to trucks. Everything has bloated the past few decades. Park a 2020 Honda Accord next to a 1990 Accord, and it’s shocking how much bigger it is.

Full size trucks have pretty much taken up the same footprint though. As I said, that 144” wheelbase that’s so popular has been 144” this whole time. So trucks have added the size vertically.

4x4 superduty next to 2WD F350. Definitely will be a height difference.

The new trucks look taller but really aren’t. I have a stock 99 ram 2500 4X4 and a stock 2017 ram 1500 4x4. I can back them up to each other with tailgates down and tailgate height is dead level on them.

There has always been "car inflation". Small models get bigger, then they bring in a new smaller model once one of them gets too big.

Nissan Sentra -> Versa
Toyota Corolla -> Yaris
Honda Civic -> Fit

I'm sure that's not all that have gone through this. The original Honda Accord wasn't much bigger than the current Fit.
