I gave her name of Buttercup and she turned out to be my best friend RIP I loved that bitch. You can use it if you like.

Zora, after Belgian born American engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov.

Her ears are the same size, the right one is just slightly droopy at the tip.

From start to finish Hearts for Paws really took care of us. Can't say enough good things about the entire event / process.

she’s gorgeous! and looks very serious as expected for her breed. her beauty aside, love that you picked her for her temperament. that is key - particularly when there is a connection (we don’t find them, they find us).

WRT her ear - one of our GSD’s had a lazy ear as a pup. it stood up later, but it wouldn’t have mattered to us either way.

HUGE congrats on your new family member and please post updates and lots of pics.

We've never officially named a pet until we've spent some time with it, then it's what first sprang to mind.

Fangio earned his on the way home. The wee kitten got all four paws on the steering wheel and kept trying to make me pass.

Our friend's Queensland Heeler was called Glue; she stuck to Zach like, umm, glue.

regardless of what name we have given our kids, there’s always names (and nicknames) that evolve over time. e.g. our boy kodiak’s name was fairly quickly shortened to kody, and as his personality developed years on we came to most affectionately call him toad. he answered to all 3, and seemed to know what sort of trouble he was in based on how we addressed him (when we said toad he knew he was good, when we used kodiak - he was in deep shit and he knew it lol).

This is how we ended up with, “Princess Whinybutt” and her brother, “Capt. Obnoxious”. (Prin and Cap for short. They were a couple barn cats)

We also had
Meryl (a sheep)
(a cow) Patty
Toulouse (a short legged pony)
Goliath (a mini horse)

And many, many more

Congrats on the new pooch!

Pic 1: Halfway thru a meal and we see the first signs of food coma as she goes from standing to crouching.

Pic 2: She tried hard, but passed out and fell into the bowl.

Well, she’s gained 5lbs since she joined us. Her personality is very apparent. Basic training is taking place.

I can’t get a good read on her. Not sure she likes me. She might just be bringing me closer for the kill.

Zora is doing quite well for a 4mo old pup.

She’s got the basics down: sit, stay, come, bring me your toy (she knows 3 by individual names), hasn't peed inside for a few weeks. She’s accepted the feeding routine of sitting until she’s told to eat. In fact we don’t even have to say ‘sit, stay’ anymore. When she see’s us preparing her food she just plops on her butt and waits for ‘OK’ before approaching her bowl. She hasn’t damaged or destroyed anything except for chewing through one harness. We’re always watching her and know she could get into anything though.

She’s quite affectionate for a malinois and loves to snuggle with us.

It was fun to see her grow from chasing me from behind, to leading me as I ran, to taking shortcuts, to taking a different route to catch me.
