Man, the ending of yesterday's stage was epic.

My CAR would struggle up that last 2 mile stretch!

Speaking of Sprint, today's Sprint Point might be the highlight of the race though other contenders might try to gain back a few seconds as they lost bundles yesterday.

Sagan may be strong enough to contest the Sprint at the end.

This is, by far, the best Tour I’ve ever watched. The whole thing was spectacular. Even the flat stages were exciting because of the battle for the green jersey. Today just capped it all off on a spectacular note. :thumbup

Agreed. it was the first tour where i would watch the GC winner (whoever it ended up being) and feel a kind of sadness because they both are such improbable heros,

and the grace that Roglic showed by hugging his compatriot, knowing pretty full well that this was his only real shot at that jersey.

This is the UAE Director Sportiv follow vehicle. Jeffe is Allan Peiper, and i'm so happy for him. this is just another crazy chapter in this man's life

Completely agree.

An epic tour where it was the guy who lost virtually his whole team and thus was at the mercy of the excellent team holding the yellow until his one and only true chance.

Historic in so many ways.

21 year old takes the Yellow, the Polka Dot and the White jerseys in one fell swoop and even if he retired tomorrow, (on his 22nd Birthday), would be revered as one of the greatest TDF riders ever.

And yes, the Green Jersey competition was finally fun to watch as well.

Great, first time in over a decade I've not watched a single stage :(

Oh man, maybe try and find yesterday's stage on YouTube and watch the last 90 minutes.

The race also resulted in a new third place finisher so it changed the order on the podium completely.

found the NBC 20-minute YouTube stage summarizations super-convenient this year ...

was suprised how disappointed I was to see Mr Roglič lose the yellow jersey ... usually I’d be all about having seen Mr Pogačar storm from behind like that. :dunno

Mr Merckx weighs in:

”I could see Pogačar coming a mile off, and I had said the only solution he had was to wait for the TT, because time was playing into his hands.

"He’s only 21, he’s a lot fresher than Roglič. We could see that over the last few days. He knew he didn’t need to attack, because Jumbo were stronger. He just had to fly under the radar a little before the time trial."

Warming to his point, Merckx argued that Jumbo-Visma had "above all, raced stupidly.”

“For the last three weeks, they’ve been all out, not letting a thing happen, but they just forgot this young lad at 57 seconds.”

“What a mistake to make!”

Eddy Merckx: Jumbo-Visma rode Tour de France stupidly

anyway, awesome Tour this year, for sure ... :ride

That's funny.

When we lived in Belgium in the early 70s my Dad had the IDENTICAL car to Eddy Merckx, who was beyond a national hero.

We got a lot of attention.

And disappointment! :laughing
