The Real Thanksgiving Story

I dunno. Doesn't the vast majority of those visiting european nations do so exactly for the benefits of their homogeneous make up? Think people visit France for the kebabs?

it's hard to be fellows when the active community does not believe that American is a thing and they despise American evolution and a particular race behind it. It's like watching a nation self destruct.

So what you are saying is that there is an American race? Did I get you wrong?

If so, what race is that? Please use some race science to back this up.

No my take was the cwto was characterizing the opposing charge; the meme is self-loathing ______. Not defending it.

Oh come on meow, we know racism is used as metaphor for prejudice and race with ethnicity and...etc. etc..

The social hygienists make the mistake of over-emphasizing the crime as it were instead of the following:

You can teach about the origins of the New England tradition of Thanksgiving, how it reflected that culture at the time, but then watch how it became a national holiday over time based on what it represents. I think it was Lincoln that made it a national holiday or thereabouts and by that time, there was something different being considered than origin story. Thankfulness is a universal human sentiment.

It’s basically a fall harvest celebration, which have occurred all through history especially in temperate climates. Most native Americans had such a celebration, certainly in California, when the harvesting of acorns was going. It can be whatever we make it. You can have it both ways. Teach the story, making it clear it was about THEM, not everybody today, then celebrate how it has evolved into a family holiday. To me, it’s less tainted than Christmas, that’s for sure.

This has been the most sentimental Thanksgiving holiday of my life this year, exactly because so many of us (including me) made the choice to cancel seeing my family that I normally would each year and also, the huge sense of relief of election result. Two other THanksgivings had a real sting of sorts in terms of national sentiments: Cuban Missile crisis, JFK assassination. I was little but the lead up to holidays were pretty intense.

I think it's about time we focus on the Taint honestly. every holiday is full of TAINt. xmas is the worst offender by far but it's not in the lead by much. Valentines:99% taint, tastes like chocolate and bleeding from rose thorns
halloween: taint filled candy
4th of july: would you like a hotdog and some explosions with your Taint?
veterans day: let's now remember those that served their country to preserve your right to taint everything

taint, taint, taint, taint. holidays will always be corrupted by the ones that stand to make money off of them. i don't see any harm in redefining a holiday to what YOU (royal) need it to be, so long as the origins of said holiday are not obscured with propaganda and the TAINT is EMBRACED. Apply your own Taint, and Make it Your Own.

Uh, okay!? Just trying to engage the opposing view as it were and try to reason using relative examples of other holidays.

Warning: Do Not Engage
Christmas is the most tainted holiday as it has virtually nothing to do with the dude who's birth you're allegedly celebrating. It's a celebration of spending.

Pagan. How many people who celebrate Christ-mas associate it with that?

More and more refer to the Solstice. It's been interesting, actually, to see secularism kind of rescue the holiday from just consumer stuff with that focus shift and try to give it some more politically palatable meaning.

For me, it's all about the Mercedes Winter Event. Which began in mid-November.

Why do you hate America? What is more American than spending? Besides baseball?

Eldritch

is insensitive
I spent around 20 minutes searching through old posts from earlier this year, but came up empty handed. It's entirely possible that the thread disappeared into the polsink.

The discussion was around whether or not immigrants to this country should hold onto their cultural traditions and values from 'the old country' or if they should assimilate to the cultural norms of the United States. Eldritch said, essentially that there is no value in multi culturalism, only chaos - and that the sooner they abandoned their "wrong" culture and assimilated into ours, the sooner they could be a part of 'civilized' society.

pretty dark words that stuck with me. I wasn't able to ask for context then because I was on a break.

There is ZERO racial ANYTHING in that sentiment. Race is not a language, race is not a style of clothing, race is not a choice in food, race is not a type of music, race is not a holiday, a political party, a religion, or a system of economics.

Race is one thing and one thing only, race is an incorrect and anachronistic idea of human difference as genetically expressed through the shape of their skull and the color of their skin. It is though these diseased beliefs of difference that all commonly observed mistakes of racial superiority in the past were expressed and your bizarre new definition is not only false, but toxic and harmful.

The concept of cultural conformity is just as valid in Japan or Nigeria as it is the United States, and none of it is a statement of White Superiority as you so wildly and incorrectly expressed, particularly in a nation with an identity that is so cleared steeped in multi-racial and multi-ethnic backgrounds as the United States of America.

Bro, I seriously think you are ill, I am worried about the ideas you are promoting and what sort of cult like dogma you are being fed that is twisting you up into this crazy thought model. The kind of shit you are suggesting here as a clear and simple drive to give the aforementioned Supremacists exactly the kind of Race War that Charlie Manson used to talk about.

You need to rethink that.

Thank you. My thoughts as well. I shake my head and wince.
Sometimes personal, perverse, virtuous sanctimony crosses the line from less than helpful to dangerous to oneself and others.

Like I said, you could also recognize human nuance and understand that people use the word as a catchall for other things. Obviously very few people truly think others are genetically superior/inferior. The word is most commonly used, yeeeeees mistakenly, as being synonymous with prejudice. A victory on a technicality isn't much of a victory.

You can chalk it up to race or dodge around it as culture. Its profoundly xenophobic either way.

Hyperbole much? Profoundly?

I think Eldo is trying to find a way out of these straitjackets, which I appreciate.

Try and find a country that lacks xenophobia from mild to hysterical. Take a bag lunch.
