The Real Thanksgiving Story

The original Thanksgiving was celebrating the success realized once the Mayflower Compact was dissolved (socialism) and capitalism
introduced to much success.

Governor Bradford recognized the Compact as unworkable and got rid of it. Work and succeed, don't and starve.

As a result, crops were abundant enough to barter with the Indians and a feast was held.

Not PC, just history.

You have a very narrow and incorrect understanding of the views and goals of white supremacy. It's much more simple than your viewpoint of it. It is the belief that white people are superior to all other races and this should dominate all other races.

Mass extermination is just one expression of white supremacy, and a very famous one. Falsifying history to claim innocence in the genocide of indigenous peoples is another.

How can what I did not define be incorrect? As I stated, it varies by the cult choosing to espouse the lie of, "Race," which is not a real thing.

The examples I gave are common ones in past expressions of the ideology.

Even under your own definitions, obfuscation of history neither proves racial superiority or grants domination. :dunno

If you can't understand how falsifying history to aggrandize your own mediocre achievements and diminish those of the conquered and whitewashing over their bloody genocide is a form of racial dominance, perhaps you will understand it in meme form.

So you accept that the reason might not actually be because people did it hundreds of years ago..?

Also, foie gras doesn't grow on trees. It's a longstanding tradition of force feeding.

History of the world. sounds familiar.

Preeeeeeetty sure it was against their laws to have their stuff stolen and be murdered. It's just that the people showing up were bigger bullies, extremely selfish, and inconsiderate of others. Sounds familiar.

Let’s not forget that the world was a much different place then, and people of all races and backgrounds were more indifferent to the suffering of other groups.
We still have a long way to go in that regard but we’ve also come a long way since those days.

Why are Italians upset when they take down Christopher Colombus statues? It's tradition to honor the dude who DISCOVERED MOTHERFUCKING AMERICA.

The British love murdering foxes with dogs and horses, but it's a tradition, not animal abuse!

Was it though? People all throughout history have been horrified by genocide, slaughter and colonialism. The reason we think it was accepted is twofold: It was easier to falsify actual events, and because history is written by the conquerors.

I don't really mind actual fun traditions, as long as we're not forced, but I was definitely encouraged by my parents to justify their investment in my Jewish education by making me sing holiday songs.

At my friend's son's virtual bar mitzvah this weekend 3/4 of it was a priest singing in a language I don't speak. My parents didn't speak it either. Neither did his parents. My grandfather may have spoken some Hebrew but it wasn;t even his 3rd language.

I get that some traditions are important to some people but I can't imagine making my kids do some mumbling in an Ancient language nobody I know speaks to appeal to a god I don't believe in in the name of "tradition".
