Prostitution: Decriminalize, Legalize, or leave it as is?

Will never happen until the average age in Congress drops significantly

9 years ago, California outlawed Gay Marriage and that stuck until it was turned over by the Supreme Court of the United States. It is not as sexually liberated as Bay Area people like to think in CA.

You and I paid for it. Probably part of their office budget.

Look, if the GOP didn't have that entertainment fund for the Bible Belt representatives, a lot of young men working in Airport Bathrooms would be put out of work.

How much money did the Mormon church pay for that result?

Does it matter though? The Bible Base was rattled and they responded. There was no voter fraud, that is what the Democracy here wanted. The moderate Left in CA is notoriously lazy, so they couldn't be bothered to have another vote in following elections to overturn it. It is what the people of this state wanted.

Filed under, "Harsh, but fair" :rofl:rofl

Legalize it, regulate it.

No, you're never going to stop abuse, but at least put laws in place that mean you can act on it when found, and make it legal so there is less stigma to victims coming forward.

The part people are missing in this conversation is public safety. The most compelling argument for legalization for me has always been the statistics around STD transmission to workers and the public in regulated vs. unregulated sex work.

The AIDS transmission statistics are pretty drastic in reports I have read, but I haven't looked at any studies on this issue in years..

Are you trying to bring down the medical/insurance complex? Don't you realize how much income they'd lose?

ftfy.

The anti-gay vote was much more mobilized than the other side, something that the GOP found across many states and exploited.

It didn't really reflect what the California people wanted, it just wasn't as important to the pro-gay voters (potential) as it was to the anti-gay voters.

As with everything else related to elections, but final piece is the most significant.....getting larger numbers of voters on your side out to vote than the other side.

It was the same thing with Trump...the American people didn't necessarily want him more, it's just that more of the people who were going to vote for him voted, for a variety of reasons.

It is ridiculous how much a full panel STD screening costs.

When we were in the lifestyle Mrs., Ms., and I used to get tested about every six months. Cost a lot at $350+ per. It was akin to a sin tax, but it went straight into the medical industrial complex's pockets.

On the other hand very few folks in our community caught anything.

If STDs were truly a concern the gubmint would treat it as they did polio. I believe they choose to make it an issue of morals and damn the overall cost. Plus pharma makes a decent dime treating them.

how will legalizing it affect pimps?

I'd like to run a few hoes.:cool
You likely couldn't afford the legal license. Check out Nevada's regulations.

If it was decriminalized pimps and brothel owners would be put out of business.

If you pay someone to fuck you and you video it: Legal

Porn.

How it is illegal if you do not video and distribute is kinda crazy.

Well there ya go. I'll never bang a hooker again without the camera running... Just remember to use real jargon like "Action!" and " Cut!" and "That's not going to fit in there..."

(...never banged a hooker.)

Meant Nevada, it came out as Vegas. What else is there in Nevada, really?

Everything. Get out of the city and spend some time inside America's bowels.
You never know what you might find.
