Bruh, its my favorite Filipino joint so far. Better than Fil Am BBQ down the block from where I live in DC, IMO. Think I'll try your place tomorrow. They got 3 items combos?

Yeah, the menu varies a lot day to day. So many days the longsilog was the only thing keeping me alive in the morning at work, lol. Say Hi to Manny for me. I really like the picadillo there.

The Pantry in DTLA, old man behind the counter also named Manny. Been long time, hope all is well with him.

Sorry, I don't know if they have cumin lamb. I don't think I ever ordered any lamb there.

The #fatboyapproved was a hash tag I used for a while when I had a Facebook page. Any time I ate something super good, I would post a pic on my page with the hash tag. Some people still tell me that the reason that they are most bummed about me killing my FB page is that they can't search the #fatboyapproved hashtag anymore to decide where to eat. :teeth

For real. :laughing

Best fish tacos (outside of Baja) I've had are from El Molino Central http://www.elmolinocentral.com in Boyes Hot Springs, just north of Sonoma on Hwy 12. It's all about their homemade tortillas made with organic stoneground masa and the beer battered fish. Their chips and guac are also excellent.

My best list lingers only in memory...

The Magic Pan in two San Francisco locations and Hillsdale Mall San Mateo. I was so not the target for this type of establishment. Found a few menu items that appealed to my crude palate. Deep-fried minced ham crepe, split pea soup and a pedestrian chicken crepe. Excellent.

Neil DeVaughn's on Monterey's Cannery Row. Mock turtle soup and cheddar cheese fondue. Main course didn't matter. The bawdy Barbary Coast decor was a hoot.

There was a Magic Pan at the Sunvalley Mall in Pleasant Hill. I remember going there as a kid, though I don't remember the food. It's been several different restaurants since then.

the stinking rose fondue at la fondue in los gatos...if you want to gain weight, la fondue is a good place to do it, haha. expensive though. they have a groupon, fwiw.

For pancakes, I like Millbrae pancake house. They serve chicken and waffles too.

Holy hell so much this!!!! They really do have the best
Pancakes..

For ceviche nothing beats San Bruno taqueria. I refuse to try ceviche elsewhere because I know nothing can come close. Not even homemade

Nice, so is that just a giant pile of garlic cheese?

oh yeah. some crazy good cheese blend with garlic and I think white wine, with breads, fruits, veggies, etc to dip. and that's only one course. Le Freak is the meal we get, which comes with like 23 different meats for the oil, the cheese and the chocolate. groupon has had it in the past for ~50% off, with a bottle of champagne.

protip: If you get it, go light on the salad. It's wonderful and huge, but you won't need it.

edit: it's in saratoga not los gatos.

Anyone got a best waffle or best pancake recs?
I need to gain weight.

It’s not what you asked, but one restaurant closure that I lamented was a Mediterranean spot in the Noe Valley called Fattoush. It sounds weird, but they made the best French toast I’ve ever had.

Love french toast, what kind of bread do they use?
Rick and Ann’s makes a pretty mean French toast.
