I had a Philly Cheesesteak Sammich at Rosy’s at the Beach in Morgan Hill that was frekin killer. They used Filet Mignon for the cow part. Way yum.

Rich, the owner, is a motorhead. Rosy, the other half, is a volleyball player. Good folks. Good food too.

awesome! thanks for this - will definitely give them a try.

on another note - does anyone know of anywhere that does good mail order tamales?

If I could figure out how to ship them I would send you some of my wife's tamales. Super moist and yummy. Keeping them cold for travel is the show stopper.

One of my favorite dishes is Lasagna from the Gold Mirror in the sunset. Its flat, instead of thick like normal lasagna with lots of cheese which has been caramelized on top during the baking process. Taste is superb and it's a big serving which I always take two meals to finish. Much recommended!

If you order a Honeybaked ham and have it shipped, it will come in a nice styrofoam box with a bunch of cold packs.

No need to buy them separate, just buy a ham for the shipping materials. :cool

Yeah. Reusable. And you prolly don't need 96 cold packs.
Meh :dunno

Ohhh I could work out a deal with LittleBeast. I ship you tamales in the box with cold packs and you can ship me linguica and raspberry turnovers....I like that plan. we each get something out of it....

More than one path to the same destination. :)

Best of all time: roast duck, somewhere in London, 40-ish years ago.

Best in the Bay Area: lamb shanks with garlic mashed potatoes, Kokkari, San Francisco.

The BEST lamb chops i've ever had was at Kokkari. I am not a lamb fan at all, so when the waiter offered the special, which they have a full lamb butchered and give you a huge sampler of every(most) parts, i declined. That was one of my biggest regrets in life. They don't do it everyday from what we were told.

I love The CheeseSteak Shop. Maybe because of my love for this place, it skewed my ideal of the perfect cheesesteak. I've been to Philly and eaten at Geno's and Pat's. Both are crap compared to The CheeseSteak Shop.

Google just said there’s none in South SF? But it comes up as an chain, win SF and Berkeley and etc. is that the one?

The CheeseSteak Shop
location: South SJ off Monterey Rd.
Sandwich: Large mushroom Philly Cheesesteak with sweet peppers and onions.

I love the Cheesesteaks at this place. it is not a restaurant per se but it is awesome. everyone I have ever taken to eat there get's addicted to it. When I went to Philly for work I got one there and it was the exact same. Granted this is not the abomination that is the Cheez Wiz steak sandwich. Also, they have battered onion rings which are a bonus in my book.

Yes!

So, supposedly, Geno's and Pat's are more famous with the tourists, and it is Jim's Steaks on South Street that is the locals favorite. When I was in Philly, I never did go to Geno's or Pat's, but I did go to Jim's a few times. I gotta say, The CheeseSteak Shop is a dead ringer for Jim's Steaks! :thumbup

The have a number of Bay Area locations. https://www.cheesesteakshop.com/locations/
Highly recommend.

It is a chain in California. There is one in SF just foggy on where exactly. Was it there that one time I went to the zoo? I don't know for sure.

So where is the SF zoo anyways. When I was in college I think I distinctly remember it being in the city somewhere but a few years ago we took the kids when on vacation and it was more of what I would say is outside SF. Maybe I am just going senile......
