OP, it bothered me that I couldn't remember concisely but I figured it out after some thinking. The restaurant I saw it at was Harbor Villa in San Francisco.

restaurant:

fried (i think this is it, but the filling is unknown, i think it's shrimp and some other stuff)

I had a cheesesteak sandwich made with filet mignon at Rosy’s in Morgan Hill.
My goodness it was tasty.

Edit, my brain regularly clears the cache and dumps all the data, so I have no clue what the best is. I have had some incredible stuff. Roy’s, Spanish Bay?

Edit 2, I have made some really good Risotto in my day. The chef tells me what to do. I provide the labor.

I would like to throw HappyHighwayMans place in the ring. If you haven't stopped by the non-BBq food porn thread you are missing out at the totally mouth-watering culinary delights he shares often........ Thanks to him I no longer go out for pizza it is now always homemade from scratch and is delicious. even the kids don't want take out pizza anymore and that is an accomplishment.

HighwayMan is a culinary genius.

I love the Beef Ribs at the Los Alto Grill, in Los Altos. I love the place. I proposed to my Wife there!!! :laughing

I forgot my other go to place when in the Bay Area.

Kenzo Sushi in south SJ. Mango Crunch roll is addicting. I will scarf like 4 of those MoFo's when I am in town. So damn good......

This is the first year I will not be in the Bay in about 7 years for July 4th so bummed....

Morning wood in south city, everything there is bomb but they had this spicy chicken sammich that was amazeballs, also this savory bread pudding with a portuguese sausage gravy :drool

Georgios Calzone, pepperoni and salami. I dont know what they do to it but i could eat a whole one no problem its like crack.

...I recently was debating with my sis on where is the best croissant in the Bay Area. I have no idea, so chime in please...

My measure of bakeries is their croissants. In SF it's a tossup between Arsicault on Arguello @ Euclid and Jane the Bakery on Geary @ Steiner. Probably give the nod to Jane because of bigger selection.

I have heard of Arsicault. When I sample their croissant, my decision on its epicness will be final and supersede previous and future reviews.

It had better be crescent-shaped, buttery, flakey, and not burnt!

Truckee used to have a place called Dragonfly. Everything was spectacular. Dude is like a private chef or something now. Yumm memories.

PlumpJack is in Squaw Valley and though I cannot recall anything specifically, it has always been fantab... ish. Wonderful. It has been a pleasure sharing the dining experience with family. Brunch is, as expected, quite yum

My experience is years ago, but, hey

Best pork sisig I’ve eaten in the Bay Area: Parekoy Lutong Pinoy in San Leandro. My fat ass will happily drive/ride up there from South San Jose just for the sisig.

Do they make it with just meat or is it with lung and other organs?

Best I usually can get is from Senior Sissig truck, but that is for poutie. Tasty, but I will keep an eye out for this place if I can ever get food in the East Yay. How is the Dinuguan there?
