Basic cars are readily available, but you have to go to places like India or Brazil to buy them. :rofl

The Honda Fit is still available in most the world. They are available all over Europe and Japan, where people are less fat. :laughing

Friend has one.

It is surprisingly large inside with good rear seat legroom partially because they've limited the ability to move the front seats backwards thus making the front a little cramped for those over 6 feet though you can buy aftermarket seat rails that allow further travel.

Actually fun to drive as well.

Yeah, I have a lady friend that has had hers for like 10 years and she LOVES it, but she is like 5'1" and 110lbs, lol. I have been able to ride in the passenger seat without doing a full airplane scrunch though.

I am an old fucker. I still grumble when I see Power Windows in a car.
Glass door windows? That go up and down? Sounds like fancy shit that breaks to me.

For a while when I was young my car had bolt-on side curtains, and none of that fancy glass door windows technology. No door handles either.

Why even bother with nav system in a dash? A smart phone is always easier to use.

Built in NAV systems have a ton of bells and whistles your phone doesn't.

I actually prefer the add on units like Garmin. They tell you where you've been, have arrows pointing to a selection of gas station, atm's, Chipotle's... whatever you're looking for.

Car nav for end destination, phone nav for stops along the way.

Most car nav systems lock out new input while in motion, even with a passenger in the front seat.

A benefit to Garmin's. And you can attach it to any car. I use my Garmin in addition to the built in system.

Edit: Plus you could find yourself out of cell range where your phone's gps won't work

I will say there are a few options on my wife's CX5 that seemed silly at first but are actually quite nice.

The adaptive cruise control is very cool and the heated steering wheel I use every time I use the heated seats, (car even has heated seats in the rear) and the ventilated a/c in the front seats is "dayum, that's nice"!

mister, at this point in history , I gotta ask you

so you getting any kickbacks from mazda or what? :laughing :party :ride

Now I want one..

... that said I'm just here to flex that my gen B6 (2002) Audi A4 wagon, had heated seats in the rear, too.
(of course no one ever used them. But this stuff isn't rocket science. Buy a car from a cold country, operates like a car from a cold country.. In Japan I don't think people jump on SUVs with rear heated seats so much, so, that's why that's recent.)

No, this is the first time my wife has had a Mazda.

Since I met her in 1978 she has had:

Monster American Station Wagon the size of an aircraft carrier; make and model escapes me.

Toyota Corolla (killed by a milk truck)

Saab 900 base manual tranny which we used to drive out here from Miami. Great car.

Then she traded that in for a Saab 900s convertible in red w/ manual which unlike the first Saab was an absolute reliability disaster.

Acura RSXs which only came in manual; great car but back seat too small for guests.

Acura TSX manual which was a 10 out of 10 as far as a somewhat sporty sedan goes but then she wanted an SUV w/ an auto which led to the CX5 Turbo which thus far is an awesome car with all of 2100 miles on it since November of 2019!

Her last four cars had all the modern bells and whistles for their times and were always our long distance rides of course.

Mazda happens to be on a decent roll at the moment with most of their lineup it would seem.

My Durango has heated seats front and rear. Awesome for Tahoe trips. Heated steering wheel is great too.

:laughing but you were talking about what is, "good for people." You gotta choose a side, Bro. :laughing

You shall be my hero for the remainder of today.

Absolutely love the tech in my Tacoma.
Adaptive cruise control works great.
BT my phone to the head unit. Hands free calling, play my music library
Heated seats.
Pre collision system
Air bags everywhere
Keyless locks
Auto windows
The rear camera is the best invention since sliced bread.
Heated side mirrors
Seat belt retractors that will keep you in your seat in the event of a rear collision.
Crush zones that direct the energy away from the passenger compartment.
On the fly 4WD.
ABS.

Forgot about the keyless thing. Don’t even have to take the fob out of my pocket, just walk up and pull the handle, then press a button to start, that shit is awesome.
- don’t have to touch my phone, car lists my contacts, tells me who’s calling
- plus noise canceling speakers make BT calls clear as a bell
- Built in garage door opener
- button for mirrors and seat go to whatever position I saved
- Tire pressure readout
- cross traffic alert is tits when backing out of a parking spot
- parking sensors
- AWD
- automatic wipers

sure I’m forgetting stuff

Screw those old no frills cars, you can have them
