Not necessarily. I need to replace a headlight on my Tesla because the DRL isn't working properly. New part is $1600 or something. Not going to bother.

My first truck was a Toyota in '87, and I think it was one of the last remaining cars that had those little wing windows in the corner.
Wow, so two of you guys mention this.
I "assumed" it would be harder than my joke implied as usually you need to get inside the car to pop the hood to access the lights from the inside.
if they employed more thieves in the design review process, maybe.
When a Subaru is just as costly to repair as a BMW...
I won't even own those luxy kind with the $2000 headlight but I have to say that the most annoying fuckin' thing about modern cars is the HVAC systems.
For the life of me, I can't understand why I can't just have an outside air vent function (though it's probably because of cabin filter or something). Both of my Toyotas, my old Mazda, always had the phenom of getting way too hot and only by working the AC can I cool it down. In old style cars, the outside vent worked great. It blew the fresh outside air right on my goddam face. On my current car, what is supposed to be vented fresh air is usually hot and I have to keep hitting the outside-inside button hoping to get fresh air. Finally, I just give up and turn everything off and open the window. It's the broken promise of fresh air that fries my ass.
Monica Rok of Mississauga has a 2017 Mercedes E400. She leases the car and must return it next month.
When an inspection was done she was told both headlights had small cracks and would need to be replaced at a cost of $3,500 each.
“They had quoted me over $3,500 per headlight to replace them because they are considered to be all in one units," Rok said.

I love people in this thread that will only own pre 1975-somethings because all these newfangled gadgets are just something else to break. Then they'll wonder why the engine 'only' made 80k before it needed the valves and rings done, setting points twice ayear and wondering why it runs rough since they just balanced the carbs. Maybe I don't need quite so high tech but give me all the gadgets any day.
I bought my first brand new car in 1991 and every one has had power windows except one. FYI it was a 91 or 92 Isuzu pickup that had the wing mirrors. Great for smoking in the rain! I had exactly one window motor fail in all that time. Cars these days are unbelievably reliable.

What crazy talk are you talking?
The E30 BMW's from the 80's are all still just tanking along happily pissing oil everywhere and running for 1 billion miles as long as you open the hood and drop your balls to teabag the engine every 100,000 miles while the newer model BMWS eject the engine from the chassy, roll over on their roof, and play dead within 6 months of the Manufacturers warranty expiring, if not sooner.
Let me tell you alll about windows.. see, they roll down.I won't even own those luxy kind with the $2000 headlight but I have to say that the most annoying fuckin' thing about modern cars is the HVAC systems.

That was a different breed of BMWs.
If I was on craigslist and I saw an E30 and a modern BMW posted for the same exact price, I'm taking the E30.
