Cant look.... need more time... cant add rock climbing back into my hobby list... Wait a minute! What the hell am I thinking? Oh yea, I need some more $$$.
BTW: Bears Reach is an awsome climb! It was my first longer multi- pitch route. And I followed a friend of mine that is an awsome climber!

wait, what?
i wanted to do snake dyke last june but didnt get around to it. a buddy of mine is trying to try me away from the family this summer for snake dyke and royal arches regular route. hes pretty damn good but its been a few years since he did any serious climbing. He is actually the guy pictured on the cover of the sonora pass climbing guide.

well let him know that if you're busy with the fam and he wants to tick some routes, I'm game. :)

I'll let him know. I'm moving to Lodi this month, we are making trips to go climbing at Stonehenge in Modesto once a week and either to Table mountain or a bay area/sac gym once a month.

I just received word that my climbing partner might be abandoning me this season to go travel with some pair of legs :cry
Funny how quickly a rack becomes useless if you've got no partner.
anybody want to climb a bunch of "easy" trad this season?
Just a few off my "to do" tick list:
Upper spire
bear's reach
cathedral peak
royal arches
some tuolumne domes
snake dike
etc etc
I might be up for it in mid May.

I've climbed your list--if you mean upper spire at phantom spires. But I'd do most of it again.

Might be going to PG Sunnyvale tomorrow evening, if anyone wants to trade belays, especially on the cracks. I'm more likely to see a post than a PM before then.

just got back from a week in Josh. Weather was beautiful. Can anyone name this mild trad route? Hint: perfect hands behind Hidden Valley campground. Off to Yosemite this weekend :D

120 is open

and I want to climb in Tuolumne this weekend.

Anyone interested in and prepared to simulclimb the Southeast Buttress of Cathedral Peak? Prepared to hike a little snow? it's usually snowy early season, but there isn't much this year.

I've done an early season ascent of cathedral peak (via one route or another) every year since this one:

And I'd like to do it again.

I climb at Mission Cliffs in SF on the weekend and Iron Works in Berekely during the week. Sometimes hit up Planet Granite on the weekend as well. It's great exercise and like others said, very rewarding if you stick with it.

I'm an early-20s noob who is down to climb with anyone! Haven't had too much outdoor experience other than bouldering, but I frequent the indoor gyms a lot. Anyone know how I can get started in trad? Any classes in the bay area?

I may be selling my old shoes. Scraps, 42. I bought them a year ago, used them maybe a dozen times, well over half life.

Recedite, plebes!
Thanks! We had cathedral peak to all to ourselves, and got the 1st entry of the season in the eichorn pinnacle summit register on Sunday.

So, did ya do the "chimney"?

Last Tuesday saw only a couple of guys working the slabs across from Tenaya Lake. (Was on the Dawn to Dusk Yosemite ride).

We did! I simul-seconded to the top of the chimney, reracked there, then I simul-led to the summit.

Slabs across from the lake--Stately Pleasure Dome? Lots of fun moderate stuff there. Great approach too...

Yes, one called the "White Book" or "Great White Book", but I think it had some runout. Up the road about 1/2 mile or so on the right is Pywiack Dome. Park along side the road then you have to scamper down the gully and back up the face to the start. The "dikes" are easily seen from the road but the bolts are kinda hard to see. Didn't do the wall section (very last pitch) just skirted around to the right and walked back down.

Been a bunch of years since I've done any climbing. :( Need to get back out there. Shoot, I think I still remember how to tie a figure 8. :laughing

The "Grack" (Glacier Point Apron) is a fun route too. Hmmmmm, maybe a bonzi road trip to the Valley for the day.... or a tent cabin so ya won't have turn around a buzz back home.
