Doubt it, dude seems pretty bright and rational and anyone paying attention knows that the stock market is now completely divorced from the real economy and reality.

Bottom line is you and most others here have been completely wrong about this whole thing...like the people in the main thread that said Japan was gonna be slammed...( any day now lol ).

Take a deep breath and be happy, this has not been as bad as predicted and we know who it mainly kills. 99% of us are gonna be just fine.

Also, please refrain from starting more threads about impending disasters until you go back to your old ones and admit you got it wrong.
So you have a crystal ball that tells you all of this stuff that even the smartest and most knowledgeable experts in the field don't know?

You should contact them all and offer your services. :nchantr

Why? It's too early to see the real impact of their actions.

This feels like a witch accusation where if the witch dies she's proven innocent.

Fear porn pushers like yourselves and the hysterical media bear responsibility in the devastation that has been wrought.

Videos like the one I posted above are the real life result of the 24 hour fear mongering news cycle and social media postings like yours. People are scared to death now and we are going to see big economic and societal changes, few of which will be good.

Ah. Ouch.

This is not a slam of Archimedes, just a possible explanation of his actions.

I know that he worked very hard to have a secure, comfortable retirement, all props to him for doing that. I know that he is very nervous that the stock market is going to drop significantly which would seriously threaten his financial situation. He doesn't want to see that happen so is falling into the trap of seeing what he wants to see that would portend a less terrible (financially) future.

Whether that's right or not, I'm fairly certain I heard somewhere that you shouldn't put all your eggs into one basket. Also, I hate the stock market.

You know what they say about opinions.

Just because it's your belief does not make it right.

Also, you're right on the border of TOS violations. Turn down the insults, it's not appreciated. :thumbdown

Two weeks after the notorious church service (Mother's Day 5/11, data thru 5/24), Butte County continues to have one of the lowest infection rates in the state. At 15.5 cases per 100,000 population, the county ranks 52nd out of 58. There have been no deaths in the county. The Bay Area at 157 cases per 100,000 is 10 times as high and has had 428 deaths.

One new infection was "linked to" the service out of 16 new cases reported 5/12-5/24.

I hope this doesn't discourage BARF's Christian-hating bigots.

interesting interpretation.

on 5/11 they had 20 total cases in 11 weeks. now they have their next 20 over these next two weeks. doubled the cases since mom's day. here's from the butte county website, in the by the numbers section. http://www.buttecounty.net/publiche...oMALIinPe68ft2E_vscQm2hDlGwwyilvdXog7KZwY9vTw

It seems the cases have shot up. Do you disagree?

Let's face it, there are many agenda's out there and if you are looking for something that will support a country pathway that you wish, you can find it.

Another one of those cheapshot posts you love to talk about. And about someone that can't refute it. Lame.

I may have mentioned it in this thread, can't recall but I have siblings in Miami, (Dade County hot spot), Texas, (Dallas suburb), and Georgia, (Atlanta suburb) and while, like here they are opening at least as fast and all of those States have had stories showing stupidly large crowds not socially distancing, it is obvious that is a tiny minority compared to February for example.

So, no, I don't expect the same kind of "explosion" though there will be rises to some extent in certain pockets due to dumb large gatherings.

All my siblings are about as cautious as I am though my dumbass brother in Texas who has virtually no hair, got a haircut, (from a barber with facemask/visor), but still, a haircut when you are retired and have no hair???

The virus will be on a low boil till we have a vaccine and deaths will go up more slowly than in the past but the economic devastation will continue despite the insanity that is the stock market.

"Re opening" does not mean "back to February."

"Re opening" does not mean "back to February."

Unfortunately, to many people it will mean just that.
Ordinarily this is where I would say "Paging Chuck Darwin" except this effects my immune fragile G/F in ways that haunt me.
To the people who say "But...we have rights!" I would say we have rights too. For example the right not to be assaulted by the ramifications of your selfish poor judgement.

True, there are loads we've learnt in terms of prevention, preparation, detection, treatment, etc. We're much better informed now. And by 'we', I mean the subset that gets information from proper sources. To be clear, the president's tweets isn't one. That said, wanna bet another burger there'll be pockets that will look just like February? There's a subset of people that only learn when it happens to them.

To the people who say "But...we have rights!" I would say we have rights too. For example the right not to be assaulted by the ramifications of your selfish poor judgement.
Replace covid deaths with shooting deaths, and it's sadly a Xerox copy of the same argument, nearly by the same people.

Nah, not gonna bully me Climber, that won't work. You have already been called out by others a few times for this type of behavior. Any problems with my posts you can go ahead and report them.

I don't pull that BS tactic.

I'm not trying to bully you, that's not my way.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever gone back to a thread where you've posted one of your 'out there' theories and admitted that you were wrong?

I don't ever recall you admitting something like that, ever, and you have a habit of posting theories that are well out of the norm.

At least my posts are inline with the scientific and professional community.

It seems the cases have shot up. Do you disagree?

My opinion, you are just seeing the results of a lot more testing being available now. The number of cases detected when there were only enough testing for symptomatic hospital admits and now when hundreds of people are being tested a day is apples and oranges. I don't disagree there has probably been a spike but I just think we are able to catch a lot more cases now. If were doing 10/20/50 times as many tests a day now I would think the number of detected cases would increase and continue to increase as there is more testing.

Anyway, I still wear a mask and use hand sanitizer when I get back in car. I'm still required to wear a mask at work. And yes, I live and work in Butte county.

Sorry, I just saw this and it made me laugh. First off, I'm not retired. Second, my retirement won't be comfortable, as all my money will be going to my kids who have health problems. I will be retiring pretty much like a pauper, in a cheap apartment somewhere. Third, I'm not at all afraid of the market falling, in fact I'm still praying for it to crater. Our stock market is a fucking ponzi scheme right now and, except for Amazon stock which I've owned for a while, I've been out of equities and in Treasuries for a year. I actually did really well when this hit and Treasuries spiked; traded out of Treasuries when they rose, and I'm riding out a load of high yield CDs right now hoping the market will crater. Just need all these Robinhood newbies to run out of stimulus money so the market can get back to reality.

I have absolutely no agenda other than to see people be able to control their own destiny and work if they want to.
