The flu is an upper respiratory infection, Coronavirus is a lower respiratory infection like pneumonia. I've been prepping for a month and bugged in for two weeks. The WHO doublespeak on "This is not a pandemic, it's a worldwide epidemic." was seen as a signal by the ~epidemiological communities.

I'm with many others in this thread. I believe its going to spread slowly and have multiple serious impacts on everything from the economy, to how we entertain ourselves, to how we think about health services.
One key aspect that's getting minimal intelligent discussion is that older peeps and those with stressed immune systems have a far higher mortality rate.
That pretty much describes 1) Boomers and 2) all of us currently suffering with allergies.
On the latter point California is awash with pollen right now and the anti-histamines and steroids that are used to manage this are exactly what you don't want to have in you, suppressing your immune system if you get the corona virus.
