Didn't realize it was the same fact. Could see the site having 110,000 people on it and 11,000 users logged in. Thought it was just a cool coincidence.

Pick a beer style and be a dick about it... :)

To each their own. Personally I go through phases. Right now I'm really diggin' the hazy IPA's despite their popularity. But I also love a good porter or stout, and there are plenty of summer days when all I want is a bunch of ice-cold Tecates.

Gotta say though, I've tried several times over the years and just can't get into the sour thing.

HEY!

Scotch neat is not extreme, that is just a normal and a centuries old tradition. :x

That's not how they drank it when I was there. They put a little ceramic water pitcher on the side and slowly water it down at least in casual settings. Mebbe its different in a different setting, like at the distillery where they want you to sample it pure., I was in a bar-restaurant, sitting with a new friend who was 30 years my elder. You start strong and end with whisky flavored water. Remember, we are talking about an impoverished culture with historically small population. They didn't have sixteen bottles of 12 year old sitting in the kitchen like Amuricans. Neat is very good for sales and getting slogged fast, however. But it sure ain't thrifty. To me, the hallmark of bein Scots is bein thrifty. It's just one gggranny, but the heritage is Dumfries, so lowland.

Just once, try it, just for me and see. Make sure the water is very good. It unlocks the flavor.

If nothing else, I can't take the esophageal burn anymore. When I was young I could.

Your experiences may vary. I know people love to argue about this but I use water with every kind of whisky in this manner. This guy below explains the different options....and covers my reasons.

YES

OMG. i was wrong above and none of you posers caught me

If yall really want something unusual try their sours. Anything ending in -ion should be a sour. BELGIAN Desecration, conse ration, damnation etc. Coming soon is VD, and in past years they released a special brew in early February for the lovers with a sense of humor and the Incels: Rejection

belgian, some also sour but -ion is a belgain

Sours are like what beer tastes like if it goes bad.

805 is what beer tastes like when it STARTS bad

I only drank 805s when I lived in Santa Barbara because bars would have it for 3-4 bucks a pint. When it's priced the same as other beers outside of the 805 area, nah...

Lagers are the worst.

High quality lagers are great and will change your mind. Computer rice crap are not. German and Czech lagers are very pure, but admittedly light. Believe it or not, the original Czech Budweiser is very good (I can't remember if they called it CzechVar or Budvar, but I had it at the castle in Prague). Actually, I think Sierra Nevada makes a good straight lager....from sitting in an ice cooler on a hot summer day it works for me.

Although I still don't like the dried flower flavor of Belgians, I think that if you try a good version of anything, you discover the reason why anybody liked it to begin with. It might not be your ultimate favorite, but usually not bad. Rule of thumb for anything.

When I was still playing a lot of party gigs, I used to play a champagne holiday party with some rich venture capitalist guy down in Los Altos hills. This guy collected the best champagne he could on his travelling trips. He was a nice guy and let us musicians enjoy multiple tastings. Consequently, I upsailed my way into some of the best best champagne there is. Damn, that stuff is good. But if you start with Cook's, you ain't gonna like the bubbly.

I've tried all sorts and it still tastes terrible to me. But if you have something I can get locally (bevmo or total wine) aside from Sierra Nevada, I'm game. Give me your high quality suggestions.

Okay, I'll make a BevMo run and see what's up....I don't drink lager in the winter. I mean, I choose normally other things, but I don't discount lager, especially if I'm eating spicy foods. I wish Mexican lagers were better because lager goes best with Mexi food. I end up ordering Modelo Negra if there is no other choice. I think we've all had that moment of drinking warm lager and thinking it was like piss....and it ruins future perceptions.

Speaking of taquerias, I can stomach a Pacifico from time to time, but it's got to accompany something with kick.

Do Mexican ales even exist?

I didn't see any when I was in Mexico five years ago, but I betcha anything the craft movement is afoot there, just like everywhere. I would bet that in either San Miguel de Allende, Morelia or Oaxaca because of the expats and food cultures.

Even tiny Azores have craft ale now (Korisco and it's delicious). Good thing because Portuguese beer is terrible (Super Bock and Sagres). Terrible but it is a wine culture after all...

I enjoy Sapporo or Asahi with sushi/Japanese food.

A local sushi joint had 1 dollar Sapporo drafts on happy hour.

Roommate and I would uber over there because driving home was obviously out of the question.

edit: I think you just helped me figure out what I want for lunch.
