EPA regulators said that Volkswagen adopted a "sophisticated" algorithm that turned on vehicles' full emissions controls when it detected they were being tested for emissions performance.
Wow, shady!
Wow, shady!
Whoa, I wonder how they found out...
Only in 'Murcia!!!
Calling a 'sophisticated algorithm' shady , while allowing Diesel trucks and "rolling coal".
The said it's for cars starting in 2009, and those 2009 cars are now required to undergo bi-annual emissions testing since they're 6 years old now. I bet the testing stations use a different method than the feds, which tricked the car into turning off its cheat program.
EPA and CARB uncovered the defeat device software after independent analysis by researchers at West Virginia University, working with the International Council on Clean Transportation, a non-governmental organization, raised questions about emissions levels, and the agencies began further investigations into the issue. In September, after EPA and CARB demanded an explanation for the identified emission problems, Volkswagen admitted that the cars contained defeat devices.
If such a class action lawsuit were to come about, the end result would likely be the lawyers pocketing a ton of cash and all of the owners getting a $2k certificate towards the purchase of a new Volkswagen. I'm serious.I demand my full purchase price + taxes refunded for my 2013 TDI!
I can't wait for the class action lawsuit mailings to arrive...
If such a class action lawsuit were to come about, the end result would likely be the lawyers pocketing a ton of cash and all of the owners getting a $2.50 certificate towards the purchase of a new Volkswagen. I'm serious.

Volkswagen, whose brands include the luxury Audi lineup, may face fines or other penalties, the EPA said. The maximum Clean Air Act violation is $37,500 per vehicle, meaning Volkswagen's fine could technically be as high as $18 billion.

Hey, braniac, "rolling coal" isn't really legal and diesel trucks (and equipment) have emissions equipment. MURRICUUUUUUUH. :rolleyes
That's actually a pretty good info!
"Have emissions equipment" is of course a bogus statement. The diesel trucks are probably dirtier than even cheating VWs.
Didn't know rolling coal is illegal How come the cops aren't stopping them then?!?!
The title of the thread is wrong. I can't believe the VWs aren't "clean" as in .. cleaner than any non-modded trucks or modded!
