:teeth I've got 58 on my clock so we'll be together in that.;)

I'd be in for SLO county , lived a stones throw from 58 for a long time. Be a nice ride out 58 , right on Soda Lake road , down to 166 and over to Cerd Nordeste ( sic?) that runes the back way into Frazier Park. From there , there are myriad roads
available from the old Ridge Route ( pre hwy 5) to several backways over to Big Bear including one that takes you over ten miles or so of fast dirt road with thousand foot dropoffs on the side.

here's a question: why the resentement towards guys who are trying to help others?
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear. ~ Ambrose Redmoon
Critics are like eunuchs in a harem: they know how it's done, they've seen it done every day, but they're unable to do it themselves. ~ Brendan Behan

This man is a REAL rider.

Here is a truism:
A good street rider will be a good track rider.
A good track rider may NOT be a good street rider.

And, yes, there are plenty of assholes on the track that will kill you as fast as any cager.

Falsism!!!

I really don't care what people say about this subject.. actually, i really dn't give a shit what ppl say most of the time (cuz most of the time, it's useless shit based on nothing) . but i look for good advises and opinions among pile of shit (pearl in the mud).. i think that the things that leaves the strongest impression are those opinions based on personal experience. so unless you ride both track and street. your opinion really don't mean shit. i am not saying that one cannot be induce or deduce from given evidences, but there are things that you simply do not know unless you have lived it.

i will share what i felt.

i always thought i was fast. not many people could go past me on 9, even in the rain. i knew some were faster, but not by much, and those were too few in between. ppl used to tell me, if you want to be a good rider, you really have to do track. i thought that was all bullshit. i am fast on street, i have good reaction, and etc etc.

so my first track day.

Every fucking guy on the track was faster than me. i mean even guys on 125 two strokes could go faster than me around the track. i was shocked how slow i really was.

2nd thing was that, all these street riders saying oh there are so many variables and shit on the street.. blah blah. my first track day.. so many riders were passing me all around me, i could barely cope with it. and this is after riding on streets for about 10 years!

so i knew i was in for something different.. and something better.. so i paid attention and hung out with some good riders. got some good advises.. thanks Ian!

after about 10 or so trackdays, i started feeling like part of the track crowd.. able to keep a good pace with B gropu and back of A group.

on the street.. i did notice a big change in the way i ride.

first was, i started riding alot slower on 9 and other twisties. if i pushed a little, i found myself being able to pull away quickly.. but i knew that it really wouldn't do me any good, as i did not feel the same high (speeds being lower), and it was stupid for me to push further on streets. so, more or less, i found myself going much slower, but in totally control of my bikes all the time. no over committing.. more relaxed ride, and same time, much more rewarding too. also.. because i was used to some higher speed at the track, going at frisk pace in the twisty actually gave me alot more freedom to observe and think ahead of line and surrounding. speed is a big mind keeper.. if you get used to the speed, you will be amazed how much more of your surrounds you are able to absorb. so this crap about street riders being able to deal with more variable.. i don't buy it. it's like, if you are going 100 everyday.. and suddenly you are going 50. you have alot more flexibility in your mind.

second thing was.. i started to respect other riders more. even if they go slow on the street.. because i knew some of these guys were fucking fast on the track. riding fast on the street really did not have much to do with how good the rider was.. in fact, the guys who often rode fast on the streets, were the guys i can tell who can't ride that well, as i can see all the mistake they make. sometimes serious ones that could potentially turn out bad.

third thing was that.. i no longer got sucked in with the pace the people on group rides. being on the track, and knowing that so many guys are faster than you, you get used to the idea of just being a rider. your ego sort of dies off, since you have accepted the fact that you are just an ok rider.. not fast. i don't feel rushed when leaders go fast (because you know you can if you really had to or wanted to).. and i don't fee rushed when guys tail gate.. i just ride at my pace because i was on a different mind set.

lastly, i tried to convey this message to the guys who have not been on track, and who think they are hotshit.. but it's like reading a scripture to a cow.. so i gave up. luckily, i mostly ride with guys who do track, so i don't run into this often..

so what am i saying? do some trackdays.. it will change things for you.

Agreed!!!

They're talking about something they've not experienced and the ones who go to the track with a closed mind and unwilling to learn will certainly not benefit.

I have seen the light..........I repent........oh, oh great Prophets of the Track, please forgive me, for I have sinned. I have learned to be a real good street rider without being on the track first. I see the error of my way now.

To all those that have not been on the track and still street ride, stop now. You don't know what you are doing. Go get some track time so you can say you know how to ride. Listen to the Prophets of the Track for they are all knowing beings.

Also forgive me for not realizing that what is meant by the street riding is riding in the twisties. That the true measure of a street rider is lying darkies out of a turn or squaring off a corner.

How could I have been blinded for so many years. The 100,000 plus miles under my belt street riding truely mean nothing compared to the miles one can rack up track riding.
