Is it going to be a day ride or overnighter, assuming there probably wouldn't be a need if cloverdale is the objective.

Day trip for sure. First weekend for an overnighter would be July 8th / 9th.

I wouldn't take newbs on the route (I led a BARF ride up there years ago and had three crashers), but anyone capable of a solid B pace shouldn't have a problem

I agree completely, I've been going to BARF socials for like two years now, but to tell you the truth, I avoid group rides like the plague. I use the buddy system when I cut up the backroads, I have one pal I always ride with, but group rides full of people I haven't known for 15 years make me twitchy.

My experience after a track day is that while there are overlapping areas the environment on the track is very different from the environment on the street, allowing a rider to extract a far greater percentage of the overall performance of the bike than would be the case of a sane rider on a public road. One thing I learned is that the bike will corner far harder than I am willing to at this point on either street or track, but the track was far easier as the surface is far more regular and missing the joys of heaves, bumps and tar snakes. The track is lots of fun but humbling and pretty hard on tires, although you can look cool for a little bit afterwards with boogered up tires. Would recommend sometime other than the height of summer if possible. Although the track was fun, the street is a lot closer and easier to get to - I can enjoy that every day for free, even if it is a lower grade, mellower high with more restrictions and hazards. Wish I had unlimited funds and garage space for shit like trucks and trailers and track bikes.... I would advise caution as addiction could easily be an outcome of too much time on the track and then you are really fucked financially.

Oh no. And it was a streetbike too. That's when you pray the cornerworker with the fire extinguisher knows how to use it and can run fast. Hopefully everyone was okay...

haha! yeah, the bike burst into flames almost immediately when it hit the ground. it left a fire trail on the track about 150 feet long...i slid through part of it according to jesus (AFM #388) who was right behind me.

as i was sliding and watching my bike burn, the thought of "damn...the nearest corner workers are at 11 and 9..." though, i must admit, the t'hill workers were fucking SPOT ON! the bike burned no longer than 1 minute before they had THREE trucks out there and multiple persons putting the bike out (with water, no less! rad!).

the medics were kick ass too, as they got there about 8 seconds later.

everyone (meaning me) was fine and no injuries aside from the regular bumps+bruises.
