Second shot scheduled. :thumbup

:thumbup sweet! My dad is about a week away from being ready for his second shot and my mom just got notified that she is now able to get vaccinated. They're excited to get one step closer to normalcy (as I bet you are) as they've been very conservative with their activities.

Finally got my parents scheduled. Saturday they'll get the first dose with the follow up in early March.

My folks who live in Colorado should both be fully vaccinated by March 10th as my mom who is the younger of the two just got her notice of appointments and my dad is due his second shot next week.

I've been trying to figure out how to get the vaccine, since my wife and I are in the group that is currently allowed to get it in my state. The little bit of research that I did made it look like a major hassle to get signed up for it.

So earlier today my health care provider called me and gave me a number I could call to sign up. It almost sounded like a bogus call, with a synthetic voice and all, but they followed it up with a text message.

So I called them and I'm signed up to get the Pfizer vaccine next Tuesday. Signed my wife up too. I just hope I can schedule the second dose while we're there.

If anybody is interested, I could report back on side effects, etc, after I get it.

Good for you and your wife. I get my 2nd Moderna on Saturday. Only had a sore arm on the first one. I will post side effects after I get the second shot.

My daughter and her husband go the Pfizer, 2nd shot was last Friday and they had no side effects from the Pfizer.

good morning.
I received my 2nd shot 2 days ago and I have experienced a sore arm but that's it. I was reading that 1/3 of individuals experience negative symptoms, while 2/3 of the population have no side effects.

Got the second shot of Moderna at 10:10 am. So far arm is not as sore as the first shot. Will see how it goes tomorrow.

I didn't feel any pain when the needle went in my shoulder.

But shit! My arm is VERY sore today. Significant more so than getting the flu vaccine.

In addition to the arm soreness, I've been fatigued today. Similar to when I had covid.

Now I had some diarrhea and a fever of 101.4°F.

I have to work tomorrow. Hopefully this will pass by then.

Ah, this makes sense as to why my symptoms seem stronger for a first dose. Those who already had covid already have immunity, and thus typically have a stronger immune response on the first dose, similar to what others experience on their second dose.

Dose 1 Rougher for Those with Previous COVID

Parikh said the same immunological concept behind a stronger response to the second dose also applies to first-dose effects for those who've had COVID-19 before.

"It's the same reason why some people who've had COVID and recovered get these effects with the first shot sometimes. The immune system has seen it before," she said.

This would seem to be evidence that I already had covid immunity 6 months later.

Has the fever lasted more than a day? Did not get much sleep last night and fell like shit this morning. My wife is 102 and I am 100.2 arm and joints sore. My Head hurt all night even when I was drinking water all night. Hope this does not last long.

Yesterday was the day after for me. I woke up yesterday feeling really shitty, like I didn't get enough sleep. And my arm was very sore. I didn't initially attribute the tiredness to the vaccine since the first one was supposed to be mild. I basically napped all day. I didn't notice a fever until later in the afternoon. Yesterday was as bad as my worst day when I had covid.

I sweated a lot last night and drank more water...was becoming dehydrated. This morning my lymph nodes are a little sore and I had 99.something temperature. I feel better than yesterday, but not 100%.

From what I've read, the symptoms mostly come on about 12 hours after vaccination and last for about a day. But they could last a couple days. It is a good think though. It means your immune system is responding.

Yep, I am getting a lot of responding :( My wife has a good friend who is a nurse and she verified we could take Advil 24 hours after. Going to go and say yes to drugs. :thumbup

You guys with the bad experiences are really making me "look forward to" getting my vaccine on Tuesday. :laughing

I'll consider it worth it whatever I have to go through. And I'm sure that the second one in a few weeks will be even more "fun".
