I saw an Oregon article where *GASP* they discovered 4 people who got the virus anyways at least 14 days after getting Vaccinated (I assume 2nd dose).

WTF do they think 95% effective means?

Plus there's that assuming thing.

Plus, I've read one won't achieve full benefit of the vaccines until about 2 weeks after their second dose, meaning they had less than 95% effectiveness at that time.

Did you not take advil earlier out of caution that it would blunt the vaccines effectiveness? I've read there are studies that say you shouldn't take advil/tylonal before getting a vaccine, but nothing about taking after your received your vaccine. Is there some info that I'm not aware of?

Could an arm really get sore enough from a needle that you’d need to take medication.

Could an arm really get sore enough from a needle that you’d need to take medication.

I was referring to headaches, body aches, fever that some people experience.

Appointments are available as of an hour-ish ago at myturn.ca.gov for Alameda county folks who are eligible (educators, I think grocery workers, etc)

No, it gets sore from the bodies reaction to the medication injected by the needle.

The vaccine developers add things to a vaccine to encourage the body to react to it, these are known as adjuvants. MOST are just mild histamines, like egg (ovalbumin).

What is curious is that when I got my flu shot last fall, it had no side effects whatsoever.

Utterly painless by all measures.

The from the year before, WHAM, ouchies. Night and day. Lingered for several days.

I couldn't say why they were different.

Well, because they're literally different flu strains amongst many other variables.

How your body responds is just 1 piece of the puzzle.

Got my first shot last week, total non event except that was the most people I have been in a room with since October, 2019 at my last trackday rider's meeting.

Yeah, my wife and I had to think a bit to be able to sit down in the waiting room and still be at least six feet away from everybody else. We sat a ways away from where they were going to come out and call us in.

got offered to be put on the end of day shots left over list by a friend that is administering the vaccine. If they have unused doses that would be discarded, they contact people on a waitlist and those people have half an hour to show up.

If you can, do it, the more shots that go into arms the better.

got first shot of moderna yesterday, someone that works at the vaccination site put me and my SO in their system, SO got a voice mail and I got a text, then the person working at the site called and said come get shots. Apparently the day before the site was slammed but yesterday they were slow, I suspect problems with their web scheduling system.
I was informed later that the site had 6 dose left and were calling anyone to come get a shot, the person that works there already got their 24 yo son both shots and yesterday his mid 20's GF got hers because doses leftover and she was close enough to come get.

While this is all anecdotal, it seems that the distribution system has a doses vs scheduling issue and that may lead to too many people one day and not enough the next.
