The Vaccine Thread.

Please don't spread the link for TVHC. I know "we" all want the vaccine but TVHC is not a traditional healthcare site.

They're an FQHC designed to serve an indigent population.

Personally, I think we are spending too much time holding up the line trying to figure out who should go first.

Start getting shots in arms and stop sitting on does. In the overall scheme of things we all need it and it doesn't come up to its full effectiveness until everyone has had it.

There is no inventory on the Peninsula. All systems here have opened it up to +65 and have a few million people to get through (system wide).

TVHC got MORE supply because the population they serve is at a greater risk of catching it (indigent Hispanic population that tends to live in multifamily housing, these patients don't have healthcare.)

If you need to try and justify going to TVHC, you already understand all of this...

Maybe my in-laws meet some of that criteria :shhh

(I don't though, so I'm not going there)

It's very possible. I don't judge.

I will add, if they are opening up vaccines for their non-patient population, it's likely they either have more available OR they can't get their patients to come in.

Again, I don't judge, I just provide information.

My younger sister got her first shot today. Mid-30's with no health issues. She works in education, from home.

My brother in-law has received both shots. Mid-40's with no health issues. He works in health care, from home.

My 95 yo grandmother can't get an appointment. My older sister who is the owner/operator of a daycare can't get an appointment.

I have a feeling this is going to be a big shit show. Not really surprised.

Do they all live in different areas? There is no rhyme or reason on requirements in some areas. I got lucky and found out about a vaccine clinic by word of mouth, with no publicity. I have friends who are playing web roulette trying to get an appointment.

Couple of days ago Az Gov requested 300 K more doses, mentioned AARP all in his ear about us out of state snowbirds looking for a fix before returning home.
Az has a couple of stadium sites running 24/7, still waiting for the smaller counties to start up.
That little bit o' info warmed the cockles of my heart.

Yup, if I lived in another county, I would have had it already. I will wait weeks in Alameda County.

225 to 45 Weeks— The answer.

Longer story—Without spending too much time searching through the news and online discussion forums. I have been trying to find a timeline for when everyone will get vaccinated or “When will this be over”

Today I got a letter in the mail form Kaiser who has 9.3 million customers in CA and has vaccinated 300,000 so far. They say that the state is only giving them 40,000 doses per week, but they are prepared to give 200,000.

So with some quick math of the Kaiser Customers that still need a vaccine, the number of weeks for everyone to get a vaccine is between 45 and 225 weeks.😂😅😬. This is assuming a 1 dose vaccine. One of the vaccine requires 2 doses, slowing down the process. Hopefully other vaccines get distributed and the rate of doses goes up and at that time Kiaser needs to ramp up their capacity too. Lots of other details, of course. Happy Friday!😂

It assumes nothing is going to change. It assumes that the Kaiser Customers aren't going to get vaccinated through some other mechanism.

Everybody is motivated to get this vaccine to everyone as soon as practical.

I don't see anyone going door to door to solicit people, but mass mailings from the county or state with locations and information on "how to get yours", I can easily see that happening. We will, at some point, be seeing "We have appointments" advertisements.

Some most certainly need it before others. But, as a society, we can't "stand down" from what we're doing until "everyone" has got it. Vaccinated early or late, we all get to take our masks off, eat inside, go back to work, go to the movies or a ballgame, go back to the gym at the same time.

Damn. Damn. Damn.

If that would be true and the vaccine only lasts 6-12 months. Then life will be different for 10 years.

Good news is more companies are going to launch so more vaccines should become available.

9M. 200k a day 45 days for “us Kaiser members”.
I still expect to be vaccinated by July or so.

Happier Friday. :teeth

Yah I wasnt going to wait on my ass for Kaiser to get around to my dad, so I booked an appointment for him tomorrow through UCSF. Who fucking knows how long Kaiser is going to take.

:laughing

said it was gonna be a shit show

BUT hope is on the horizon.

Starting Monday, the new administration will be sending out 1M vaccines a week to CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Costco and supermarket chains... beginning with underprivileged locations.

They will also be adding 500k to Operation Warp Speed allocation.

I mentioned earlier, when Sutter moves from +75 to +65 it adds 2M patients to it's cue. So if you're ~40, it's gonna be a WHILE before we get there.

Oh and KFF vaccine acceptance report

Not making any assumptions here. There will be a ramp in vaccine distribution. Just running the numbers that I have. I hope that everyone gets a shot as fast as possible safely. I hope its distributed evenly.

1 Million vaccines a week in the US?. We have ~306 Million in the US to still vaccinate.

Kaiser says they are prepared for 200K per week and the only limit is vaccine supply. I just want to know the ramp plan for the the US.

That’s 1M additional through a different supply chain

So I’m assuming that will put the US close to 12M distributed a week

Edit: vaccine is only available for 16 and over, so about 250M people, so 20 weeks or so?!
