So slow it's criminal
Just wait till they start reporting on Gronk being better in the post season than Jerry Rice...

I wouldn't go that far but I think you can make an argument for Moss over Rice depending on what your looking for in a WR.

Career? Rice. Single game or season? I might go Moss

Granted, that is real for sure. I'm still holding out for Niners fans to at least admit Brady is better than at least John Brodie (W74-L76-T8).

:laughing

Niners Fan here and I have no delusions that Brady is not the GOAT. I mean Jesus what else can the guy do to prove he is the GOAT? Does God have to speak from a burning jersey and tell everyone that he is the GOAT? People arguing that he is not the GOAT also think that Mahonnes is the GOAT when he has not even accomplished 10% of what Brady has and they have anointed him already. That is the main reason I was rooting for Brady and the Bucs Sunday. Fuck that noise about Mahonnes and being the GOAT. Like Romo says when he has 8 rings then we can talk.

I also think that generational talent is way overused in sports now. I think we have a generational talent in each draft now......For Christ's sake let's come up with a different superlative to describe someone. Maybe super duper extra awesome with a dash of bodaciousisness talent?

Mikev told me the Burning Jersey was #16 and that Montana IS God?

So I just want to make sure I fully grok this, the argument for Montana is that he played in a different era? There is no statistical or logical argument for Montana > Brady outside of Montana would have magically outperformed his career figures if he played in an era?

Is it fair to say that you think Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain would also best Jordan and LeBron?

A silly argument that it is easier to be a successful QB today than 30 years ago when linemen on both sides of the ball were 10 percent lighter and slower.

How did Mahomes manage to get injured enough to affect his play at so young an age in the supposed era where QBs don't get injured?

because turf toe is a pretty significant injury that can happen to literally anybody?

Still waiting for "proof" that it was harder/more injurious playing QB "back in the day" when QBs were better than any that came after.

Have no idea how Mahomes was knocked out of a game earlier in the year with an obvious "where am I" concussion.

But maybe Lawrence Taylor will convince you that still claiming Montana as the best ever is ridiculous.

https://giantswire.usatoday.com/202...r-tom-brady-not-joe-montana-is-greatest-ever/

But this article from 2011 makes all your points and this one:

While Brady still has time to get one more MVP trophy, Montana finished his career with three to Brady's two.

Even if the Patriots do make it back to the Super Bowl, there's no guarantee Brady gets another one. At age 33, his time is running out.

I mean. If you don't realize that the rules have been changed to make offenses more potent and increase scoring :dunno

It is way easier to be a quarterback now than it was years ago. You can't even hardly touch a quarterback now without drawing a foul. concussions are rare and you can't knock the quarterback into next week like you could in the good ole days. I mean origami plays where the QB is folded into new and interesting shapes have largely gone by the wayside except for those few instances like on Sunday where Mahonnes got folded into an origami swan by the Bucs D but they also got called for it....

We do realize it but face the facts you can what if until Ragnarok but facts are facts and stats are stats. Brady has done more than Montana. He has the rings, the wins, the MVPs all of it so yes longevity was shorter back in the day but games evolve and things change and right now Brady is the GOAT until someone can come along and unseat him with 8 rings.......

Also the salary cap and free agency have changed the league as well and was not the same during the good ole days so you had players stay longer on a team and not having to move around for a pay day so there is also that to take into consideration.

And yet there hasn't been an explosion in scoring over the last few decades to help pad the stats in any significant way for Brady vs Montana.

Never been a Brady fan to be honest but he is the best ever by virtually any measure and SB wins with two teams is impressive.

And on the second team he joined less than a year ago.

:cry In the good old days. :cry

I think it was 1986 with the Big Blue Wrecking Crew in full effect that not a single QB for the entire season lasted the entire game without getting knocked out for at least one play.

Back then most the QB's were probably cross eyed and trying to remember their kids names at halftime while the DB's were cutting their fingers off and the Linebackers were folding their steel lockers into little stress balls to manage their 'Roid rage.

That there was a sport!

You have to admit it may not have affected scoring but it certainly had something to do with longevity.

I am not arguing against Brady being the GOAT because I think he is I just think it is easier being a quarterback now than it was in the old days.

I talked about this with a friend yesterday and he pointed out that Brady also plays smarter so he doesn't take hits. Like that play where the ball went way over his head, he just went and fell on the ball where someone like Mahonnes would have probably tried to pick it up and make a play and probably taken a hit from the incoming defensive player.
