Tampa was already a solid roster.

upgrading from Jameis Winston to Brady was... significant.

True, but old ass Tom Brady, JPP, Suh, Antonio Brown, so many of these cats are on their last legs.

They are set as a mofo on WR with Evans and Godwin being in their prime and I really like Vita Vea, but I feel like enough dudes are about to age out of their talent pool that it isn't sustainable you know?

Oh it's for sure not. Brady's only signed next year and even though he's clear #2 all time after the guy that never lost a SB he was in, he's gonna be 44 fuckin years old.

Tampa sold out on TB for 2 years for a win now window. I'd say that's worth it.

Yeah, and being able to win at home for the first time ever is pretty epic, but I don't see a new dynasty you know? Brady and Arians and all these dudes saying they were going to do it again next year and I'm like: :wtf

3rd time, but I know what you mean.

Raymond James is a sweet stadium though.

I'd be massively surprised if TB pulls it off twice in a row. There's just too much luck involved. KC would have had a better chance if they didn't happen to have a couple OLine guys out, and happen to have a ref crew that actually called penalties.

Winning an owl is fucking HARD.

What? When else did that shit ever happen?

If Tommy won next year does he make your number 1?

It's different eras. Brady wouldn't be Brady under the rules Montana played under, and Montana would have won even more.

There's no arguing this. Sorry. It's just the way it is.

Of course there is room to argue that. Everything you just wrote is pure speculation with zero evidence and zero ability to prove it.

A QB doesn't win Superbowls alone and Joe Cool got dumped by the Niners after 13 years, which hardly even gives him time to collect 7 rings and the Chiefs he went to play for were seemingly a Superbowl ready team like Brady inherited in Tampa, but they didn't get there with him behind the wheel.

Aside from that, Salary Caps and free agency were different, the League structure was different, there were only 3 bloody divisions when Joe played, we didn't even have as many football teams as we have now. There are so many variables on the table there is no way whatsoever to speculate accurately how his career might have played out differently, but I would speculate that without Bill Walsh, Joe gets ZERO rings and may end up another Jim Kelly.

I have mad respect for dude, but at this point trying to hang onto the argument is just silly.

Cool story, bro...

I have so much respect for Joe, as kid from New York who moved here when the Giants were still bad from the worst run in our history and growing up in the Bay Area in the 80's during the Niners Golden Age, that dude was so ever present, but he never gave me a reason to hate him, just respect for his game.

I'm still a little bent he got dumped into the AFC, that always felt dirty to me, even if it was Steve Young's time.

The ruthlessness of it still stings me a bit, too. No happily ever after in NFL, NBA, what-have-you. It's a lesson that kind of hangs there, even this year, regarding QB trades and decisions. Despite whatever rah-rah stuff I might say about Niners, I fully anticipate some upcoming decision or trade that might be discomfiting. Warriors, too.

But one of the biggest nuts to crack is when team can no longer afford somebody because of their accomplishments. It's easy to resent Brady as one of those upper middle-class San Mateo guys if you come from blue-collar background. A lot of your gossipy peeps resent his perfect marriage to perfect model and perfect kids etc etc. But the guy structured multiple pay cuts to keep the Patriots from falling into that trap. Some people might hate them for that, or grumble that his model wife makes more money, but he did something that to me, adds some lustre to his perceived greatness and actually rewarded fans for a while anyway. That was real money and in the world of pay and ego, it was notable.

Smothering defense won the last game with Brady having an awful game.

The defense was as ferocious yesterday and Brady had a stellar day.

Hard combo to beat.

There are some.

Mike Strahan only ever wore Blue, same for Eli, but I will NEVER forgive Jerry Reese (in addition to many other crimes) for letting Justin Tuck play for the Raiders.

It does happen sometimes, some guys do get to ride off into the sunset, but not always, it is a business, but damn, seeing Joe Cool in Chiefs Red just bothered me.

I agree. At the time, I was "glad?" that it wasn't NFC, sort of, if it had to be. Further East would have been slightly better. Like Florida or something. I would say or Atlanta, but in those days, inexplicably, the Falcons were still in the NFC west.

In terms of inverse weird woes, seeing Orel Hersheiser in a Giants uniform was singularly........something.
