My 7 died on me a couple months back and I replaced it with an SE. Fingerprint ID, size, battery, and price are why I'd probably still choose it. I'd be interested in 5G, but only in terms of a hot sport

Just last week at work was the deadline for installing an app allowing IT more access and control over our work phones. For the first time in 15 years I’m considering getting my own personal phone.

Yeah for me I think the policy was "the IT department must know your phone's password at all times" and I was like "NOPE"

We are forced to buy new phones every few years now ever since they made it so you can't remove the battery.

You can still get them replaced for about $100. You can also DIY, just a new paradigm with adhesives instead of screws to open it up. I recently went through the similar process upgrading RAM on our iMac.

You know you can have different ring tones for work contacts? I couldn’t carry two iPhones. I would struggle to decide which one to pair to my watch. Because, well...I’m not gonna wear two Apple Watches. That would be absurd.

Yeah, but you are missing the point of keeping all your personal stuff, apps, messages, etc, separate from a work phone that is managed and monitored.

But, have fun explaining to IT and your manager why you've been trying to download Tinder on your work phone. :laughing

Funny, for $40 I got Apple to replace the batteries on an old iPhone 6S. Simple enough to arrange. Guess that's too inconvenient for you. :cool

2014 S4 mini. Think it updated exactly once around that date.
Holds a charge about 3 days. Replaceable battery #3 now.

Ain't borked.

I used to replace every 2 years but I'm thinking of going to 3.

I too have a work phone. It does not connect to my home network and it lives on a charger. I have it forward all calls to my personal with a distinct ring tone.

Call forwarding, there’s the answer to not dragging two phones around.

I got annoyed with the Fingerprint ID on my old 7. Was always unlocking the phone pulling it out of my pocket when I just meant to check time.

I guess if that helps melt your butter.

But, some people have managed devices and services where they can't get access to work email/apps on their personal device.

If your company doesn't, your IT is shit. But, your company stuff probably isn't going to be the victim of corporate espionage, so there's that to consider. LOL

Same here but I can leave one phone in the desk or car and get to it when I can. I don’t need both on me every hour of the day.
Doesn’t work for everyone but it’s a nice option for some.

Could also be a thing where the ability to contact him during emergencies make it such that they can't afford a $40 repair, in a non-monetary kind of way.

i need to buy a new phone to replace my xr max or whatever simply because for the first time in my life i've hit the storage cap (64gb)

R3DS!X

Whatever that means
I'm still very happy with my note 9 that I got over 2 years ago.

The only thing is the super wide angle cameras the new phones have is a neat feature i feel like I'm missing out on. Other than that the phone is still very capable.

Considering how often I use my phone and how long Flagship phones last nowadays I would have no problem spending $1500 on a phone that will last me 3 years considering tis something I use daily and frequently for everything.

In conclusion:
I like pie. preferably, chicken pot pie.

iphones are dumb.

anyway my screen is finally cracked to the point that I need a new device. Probably going to get the Pixel 4a 5G variant when it starts shipping.

They are "smartphones" brah.

Will Google go more than 3 years for support?

Then perhaps they need to re-evaluate their life choices. Maybe, not get extra cheese on their Whopper for example.
