So, I see that Apple is about to announce their new iPhone. Just wondering how everyone here feels about purchasing a new smart phone.

On my end, this is the first time in a while that I'm not motivated to buy a new phone. Even with 5G, I don't really see an advantage. It's going to be years before they have good 5G coverage, and I can't think of anything that I do on my phone right now that would make 5G worth the extra money of replacing my existing iPhone.

I’m still happy with my 256gb iPhone 8. Runs fine, plenty of storage still and in great condition. I have thought about updating to the 12 if it has a thumb print reader.

I currently have an XR. My last phone was a 6 and the one before that a S3. I use all my phones pretty much for their entire lifespans. I wish my XR was the size of my old 6. But I’m going to hang onto this thing for a while.

Work gives me a new iPhone every two years but if I had to pay out of pocket I’d also buy an iPhone. Too lazy to learn a new system and it syncs with my iPad which is convenient.

I’ll wait to see the features before deciding whether to upgrade from my iPhone 10S Max. Camera is the least of my priorities and that seems to be the only thing they consistently upgrade between models.

I feel terrible about buying a new smart phone. My current phone is exactly umm 2+ yrs old.. and it looks like I'm noticing the automatic activity tracking (sports) stops working if I take a pause. Poor thing got dropped too much :(

Got plenty of memory too, but today's battery life after 9% surprised me a bit. :wow

I have gotten into a pattern of cycling phones every 4-5 years or so (or when my phone breaks). I am actually looking at new phones now because my current one (Samsung S8) took a fall, and since then I've had some issues with the microphone cutting out or being fuzzy.

So, looking at new phones, and a lot are launching in the next few weeks. The only things I really care about is decent battery life, decent camera, and waterproofing, I am not enough of a power user to really care about much else, but as far as I can tell the IP68 rating is something that companies are only doing for their more premium models. (and the Iphones that use the old, 4 inch screens, which I don't like)

So, basically just waiting out to see what the lineup of phones looks like this year.

Saw a commercial for a new flip open phone they doubles the screen size. That seems cool.

My Pixel 2 still works great and continues to get the latest Android updates. No reason to throw more $$$ at it.

Phone technology gains have diminished, so I update every 2 years now.

Until the iPhone 8 came out it was almost yearly “upgrades”.

I don't buy a new one unless I need a new one. I tired of iPhones a while ago. Have a Pixel 3 now and my work phone is an S9 but they are sending us S20s soon. Wife had iPhones for a while then did the Galaxy Note once or twice. Now has a Pixel 4 which she likes. Most everyone I know had iPhones for their first few smart phones and tired of them after a few iterations and have moved to Android phones. If my work wasn't hooked into android I'm not sure I would have switched but since I did, I am happy I did.

My last phone was a 6S+ that I used until the speaker gave out. Had to put people on speaker to hear. Now I have an 11 that I’ll use until it breaks too.

Why did you and your people get tired of iPhones?
