Funny thing is, no other phones seem to run the apps dedicated to managing input from the FLIR Thermal Camera on my phone. Or the built in VOC Air Quality Sensor, or the projected laser area measuring device.

That are all built in hardware. On my Phone.

:)

Oh lord, you bought that dumb CAT smartphone, didn't you?

I mean, the CAT phone is not technically the dumbest idea for a phone that ever existed. This thing existed too.

Dumbest? The thing is a great performer with hardware features no one else can touch. :laughing

One App I haven't seen yet that I would really like to is a system to allows you to move some crosshairs on the screen so you can zero it as a rifle mounted thermal scope, but the tech is still new. Using the laser pointer you could totally switch between laser targeting or thermal, but they would have to invent some sort of picatinny compatible mounting hardware for the device itself.

Most thermal rifle scopes cost twice what the phone did and those do not function as a decent smartphone. My cousin is a firefighter in the North Bay and they have to use thermal for finding hotspots in all the wildfire fighting they do every Summer and he is hella jealous of the low cost and portability of my device. :dunno

Also my first waterproof phone device and the ruggedized design is awesome, first phone I never bothered with a case for. It is AWESOME.

Fkn iPhone, you think your copying and sending a link to a page you have open and it sends the link to another page open in the background. So goddamn annoying.

Yeah, I mean Apple Hardware is mostly fine, except for the proprietary ports and lack of ports it is the Software that is a complete shit show.

iTunes has forever destroyed any positive thoughts I may have ever had, or ever will have, about syncing devices.

Yep, and that 1999 interface where the sub-opened page has like "DONE" in one corner.. the left one.

And in other apps, the Done button is in the right side.

Sooooo clean ...

you just mentioned you're Pro-PITA-devices and a shit show in the same sentence. :party

No, not the first Gen, I got the 2nd Gen the S61, love it.

Call it a hangover from the 90's, but at some point I learned that a generalized device with a non-standard tool bolted onto it is just a bad idea - and that you're better off having the non-standard tool as its own separate item.

I'm glad its working out for you. :)

Whatever happened to Thatch and the user who had multiple penis adornments inserted (can't quite remember his handle)?

That is why I waited for 2nd Gen on the FLIR, but it runs a standard Vanilla Android OS, USB C, 3.5mm jack, all standard stuff, but with extra goodies built in.

The extra hardware, which is the VOC Air quality sensor, Laser Projection Measuring tool, and FLIR Camera all work pretty great, except the Environmental Temp Thermometer.

That shit ALWAYS reads high and is clearly influenced by heat inside the device. The Laser Area finder requires calibration most of the time when you use it, and the numbers it provides depend a lot of how well calibrated it is. I honestly find more value out of just always having a red dot laser pointer with me. The software they provide for providing area measurements to scale on images is pretty handy though.
