Man tries to pay ticket with pennies, gets choked and it hits the fan

My question is... why did the Squire have to be choked while exiting the building, already outta one door and hidden by a pillar?

I have to assume he did something to provoke getting choked. Notice how, previously, he was yelling while still standing at the counter. Yelling at police isn't usually very productive, and will make them assume you're going to become combative.

Second.. was his beard OK, or it contributed to the event?

He definitely looks SF hipster, especially with that goofy hat. His coat, however, is classic Detroit, where everyone tries to look like a wannabe-thug.

Never, ever worked a cash handling job where they made you unroll and count those coins.

Have you ever worked a Cash Handling Job for a Government Agency?

your ability to just say bullshit and believe that it is true just because it came out of your mouth, is remarkable. I think you get undue amount of credit around here because your delivery is so confident. But some of us know that you really don't know what you are talking about.

I think you have no fucking clue what you are talking about and like to type with one hand because the other one has a thumb up your ass, that however is just my speculation. I can tell you that for Federal Cash Registers, this is absolutely a thing. My mother worked with a cash register as a Federal Employee at a Federal Agency for decades and this is 100% something that was required of all clerks before they could complete counting out their drawer every night. They hated people that paid in bulk change for that reason. This clerk was a county employee, so maybe they aren't' as strict on count out procedures, but that seems like some Government Shit that they would all do to me.

all this over a buck seventy five, that is what is truly amazing.

Not really, right? Dude was hacked off, because he got a parking ticket. Staff has hacked off, because they work a Government Job facing the public, and most of those people are hacked off, because Government sucks. More about people boiling over trying to exist in a shitty system, than the 2 bucks, you know?

And actually worth MORE because of the copper content!

Are they? I mean, they are just plated now, so I don't know. I have a 20 year bet with a buddy of mine that the penny will be taken out of circulation by 2035.

Legal tender yes, but no one is required by any state or federal law to accept it. Hence no bill larger than $20 after 10:00pm, or $100 bills not accepted. Not taking your pennies. Get over it.

Poop man was angry, irrational and took it out on the clerk. The dude in the uniform acted the same way except he got physical. The county will pay. Question is will Poop Man accept the award in pennies? :teeth

Zinc industry is far and away the leading contributor to keeping the penny in circulation.

Private companies do not accept large bills due to safety concerns. There is no safety concern over pennies.
I fail to see how a gov entity can refuse to take gov-recognized money.

Would paying a $1000 fine with one thousand $1 bills be treated the same?

There are people who stockpile pennies, to speculate on copper value. I saw it on TV a few years ago. They literally have garages full of them. Granted, you have to go back to 1981 to find pennies that are majority copper.

It's either that or they think once the penny is taken out of circulation they'll suddenly become collectible.

I don't deal with pennies, I just throw them in the trash or on the ground for whoever wants to make the effort to pick them up.

I throw all my change in a bowl and redeem it at the Coinstar machine once or twice a year. Seems like throwing it away would take just as much effort.
