Is Marc Marquez going to come back?

I have my doubts.

Doohan and the leg injury could be compensated with a thumb brake, etc.
Doohan could also lock his thigh against the tank indent for stability.
WinOrBin will have to throttle, brake (brake lever and air brake with upper body), and steer with a diminished right arm.

Modern medicine is pretty amazing these days, but I am definitely doubtful he'll be back to his normal self ever again

Another aspect of WinOrBin’s issue isn’t just the arm break and infection, but also the legacy shoulder stability issues.

True. All of it.

Somehow his incredible desire will get him back on the grid in my passionate dumb ass opinion :laughing

Thinking ‘22 though. No doubt he has a lot to overcome.

As much as I don’t like the guy it's a sad way to have a decline in career.
I’d rather see him 100% healthy getting beat fair and square by some the new “Young Guy" on the grid like Binder, Mir, Olivera, etc.

Now we may have to live with the never ending rationalization of; “If WinOrBin was in his prime he could have won”.

On the other side of the spectrum it’ll be such an interesting dynamic on the grid if Rossi beats on WinOrBin with the Pertonas M1.
It would just mentally and emotionally destroy WinOrBin.

If he's not fully healed by the time the season starts and or needs additional surgery which is being rumored then I think he will probably take 2021 off as well and try and come back next year. I also think that taking basically two years off in the prime of his career is going to have serious career detrimental effects. And that I think will be really difficult to overcome.

its not just AN aspect, its the defining aspect. its the root of the entire thing. pull iup medical journals and the number one issue, with surgically repaired humeral fractures, post surgery, is atrophy at the shoulder and elbow. his previous shoulder injuries apparently dictated the surgery he received, which seems to have been a major issue with the ensuing lack of healing.

Ill repeat myself. Sad as it is, my prediction is Marc is done.
Ill be amazed if he ever returns to top level road racing. I think he may eventually try a test. But I don't have high hopes of it being successful. Maybe he could switch to flat track.

Yeah, I agree. As much as I have disliked him over the years, he brought so much to the sport and provided so much entertainment. It will be sad if he ends up unable to perform at his old level, and I expect that's what is going to happen. The real question to me is whether he will be willing to risk yet more injury in the quest for a championship. Speaking from personal experience, that much time and pain spent with an injury can diminish your desire to risk it all again.

+1. The shoulder is one of the most important areas of strength and functionality needed on a motorbike.

Ok I for one say MM comes back and wins. I don't know when but I don't see him walking away even if he isn't his old self. This injury may be the impetus to figure out how to make the Honda an easier bike to ride. He was happy to have a bike nobody else could get 100% out of. Maybe now he will change his thinking on this.

Or maybe settling for 3rd after crashing, remounting, and charging through the field. Could go either way and while I'm a Rossi fan I do hope he returns!

I don't see this at all. MM has made a career out of being dominant and intimidating. When he can't do that anymore, he won't have a fallback. He doesn't want to be Pol or Tito.

one of the major reasons behind JLo's retirement, after the back brace episode.

Absolutely. Jorge out front was scary. After he started having problems and bad crashes, his style of win or emo stopped working.
