Is Marc Marquez going to come back?

I had my neck surgery with bone implants in mid November. Three months later, a couple days ago, my surgeon cleared me to resume any exercise I wanted, moderated by pain. Up to now it's been only very light weight exercise, probably lost 4-5 pounds of muscle.

I was hitting 25 pushups, now I'm hitting two. Which is better than two weeks ago. I figure in a couple more months I'll be closer to 15.

What I've heard is that it will probably be a year to full return.

The photos of 93 looks as though he’s aging like a certain recent birthday boy. The important question is how many unisex modified push-ups can mm do?

Yeah, but you were also collecting social security before MM93 was born....

I watched MM's carefully scripted rider interview, his body language, and mostly the look in his eyes, and I think he knows he is done. I laughed at Kuwata's interview and threw up at Puig's interview. The managing imbeciles ended his amazing career, and for what?

Not as fast as I look.
I sure hope you are wrong. The series misses him. No matter what his detractors might say. I was shocked that they had him riding so soon. However, we have seen Lorenzo and others jump right back on and be okay, so maybe that is how they thought. Still, a huge mistake. My toes are crossed.

Personally, I think Lorenzo's case has set the "stupidity standard" by racing 12 hours after collar bone/plate and screws surgery, loaded on pain killers and finishing in tears for a fifth place. Why?:thumbdown Add age, another crash and a broken back (oddly at the same track in Assen) and everything changed...

Whatever that means
I hope the silver lining form all this is that they change the standards and practice as to how recovered a rider must be before being allowed back on track.
It took the loss of Sena to really change the safety measures in F1 but I don't think we've had a death since.

Injuries are going to happen in GP, that is mostly unavoidable. Certainly thought there should be change for when they are allowed back into racing.

Jules Bianchi in 2015 if F1

I wonder if Clinica Mobile will get more powers to override doctors outside the paddock, doctors that may be influenced by the teams or riders.

2wheels good 4wheels bad
Clinica mobile/race direction are the ones that are clearing the riders to ride after doing 5 girl push-ups.

On one hand, I can respect the "your body, your responsibility" approach but these guys are so hyper competitive/hungry to cement their legend status they are willing to do literally anything for it

Don't disagree. It is just how they think. There are Barfers who will tell you they were just fine after a broken collarbone. They have posted right in this section, I believe.

Maybe there needs to be a mandatory time-out for everyone. Petrucci had a concussion, I am pretty damn sure, and they let him race with it. He could have wasted another rider and everyone would have gone ,,,,, "Whoops. That Danny is such a clown."

Good pt about Clinica.

IMO, the original "bad advice" and the first check that failed was the first doc that said "you can ride, the plate won't break". Clinica's test obviously didn't show otherwise either. So the 2nd check failed as well.

I do still wonder what the probabilities were for MM's injury. If 20 riders shattered their humerus, got the same place, and rode a week late - how many would break the plate? If its 1-2, then MM actually got good advice and its a freak accident. 5+, MM def got bad advice and the doctors should have known better.

Comparing that to Jorge's collarbone... the collarbone is almost a useless bone in the body. Of course its not going to see as much load as the humerus. Im sure all the doctors knew this. But maybe the riders or teams didn't.

Riders need a union. There's some fucked up stories in this thread where the individual riders likely had no good options and were put on bikes well before they should have been.

100% riders need a union, but I think Marc WANTED to ride,

What the sport really needs is independent medical commission. There’s way too much conflict of interest.

MotoGP appoints it’s own doctors, and the damned climicamobile literallt has sponsors, who are also sponsors of riders.

Short term, hopefully Dorna and HRC realize how much value they lost with Marc out for 1 1/2 - 2 seasons and adjust their approach to serious injuries accordingly. Cuz you know, affecting the bottom line is the easiest way to cause change.

and Puig should have sit his ass down and protect him, instead of killing the HRC golden eggs goose. But the manager's hat he got from Suppo is waaaay to big for his q-tip head.

100% correct on independent medical exams. Hey son, can you show me 5 push-ups? Good... Send it! Look at the NFL, for example: concussion protocols are conducted by independent doctors for a reason. Team doctors have zero say in the decision making because of the past.

I agree that Marc wanted to ride.

Not sure about a Union working but Dovi needs a job!!

There needs to be some protocols. Racing just days or a week after a surgery offers permanent injury possibilities.

I get it is their job but I bet there would be less pressure if there was an agreed upon protocol to return. Be good for the sport.
