If you can get your hands on one, the best bang-for-buck in a daily driver prestige type watch is probably a King Seiko. 23 jewels, leather band with deployment clasp, and a 40mm bezel.

Years ago, my mother would buy the old man Seikos whenever he needed a new watch. I've kind of adopted that same pattern. Right now, i've got a Seiko Kinetic, nice watch. But, working in the shops for the past 32 years, I can't wear a watch or jewelry, too dangerous, might get caught on something and strip off a wrist or finger or something. And also, I tend to clank them on the corner of steel tables or toolboxes or whatever, and they get torn up. So it sits in a drawer.

I've noticed that on Ebay, a whole load of Seiko watches are on sale in Singapore, with really high reviews for the company that sells them. I wouldn't mind having a couple more of them, for the rare occasion that I do wear a watch.

I noticed that a couple of the male nurses in the hospital i've been in for the past couple weeks, had some real nice Rolex's they were sporting.

Nice (esp. the clean leather band). Definitely reminded me of a Tissot Visodate immediately. I googld the image of the Visodate and it turns out it also has a 'day', but it's kinda related.

:dunno Dunno.
BTW what's the deal with a red-dial Rolex? Half-red/half black. I don't think that's the so'called "Pepsi"

Diver bezel? Usually the first 15 minutes are made to stand out from the rest.

Never mind. I looked it up. The Rolex GMT Master is what you're talking about. Looks like half blue/half red is specific to that watch but you use the bezel for setting time zones.

For those of you who enjoy the mechanics of time and prefer automatics I highly recommend Wolf winders. Here's my Grand Seiko Diver in a basic Wolf (1800 rotations/24 hour; 900 CW and 900 counter CW with rests).

Rob: I meant 'bezel' but you looked it up correctly. Yes indeed it turns out it is a GMT Master II, with a red/black bezel. I was just wondering if there is a 'significance' as in 'the real rolly is a blue bezel one' -- as we learned a few pages back ;)

The red/black bezel seems to be this GMT Master II, in the real version : http://robertmaron.com/product.php?productid=18586&cat=267&page=6&sold IT SAYS DISCONTINUED

however the point is, that even Google displays mostly REPLICAs(fake) of that kind, such as : http://mic-market.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1455 (really the one I was talking about, note that it is a 15-min bezel, not a 24hr bezel)

Anyway TLDR it was a color question just as the 'blue' rolex question :D

Beau seems to be a collector..

Sorry, I'm late to the thread, but this pic reminds me of college. Back in the early 90's, Public Enemy did a college tour which included a stop at Cal Poly SLO. Sadly, they had to reschedule the concert. When they finally did perform at Cal Poly, we found out that the reschedule was because Flavor Flav missed the plane. Chuck D kept giving him shit the whole night saying things like, "How the fuck does a guy miss a plan when he wears a huge clock on his chest?" :laughing

Red and blue is the Pepsi version. Red and black is the Coke version.

I'm surprised there isn't more watch modding going on. I think it could be a whole new way to waste money on things you'll never get value back for. Captain America theme here, by a strange coincidence.

I feel utterly naked without a watch on. I hate being late for stuff so I always have a watch. Yes I could check my phone but... Watches are stylish.

nice, I've never really been into dive watches but that's a nice tricolor sub
I actually think Rolexes clean up real nice if you remove the Cyclops

What the shit is this...
Nope. Wore one religiously until I joined the service in '98, couldn't have it during boot camp, and never went back.

I haven't been a watch guy in like 25 years, but I have been thinking I need a pocket watch for my vested suits. I'm also considering a Moto360.
