Do you have it? Covid-19

From the article you just posted:

"Should people be more concerned about the seasonal flu or COVID-19?

There’s widespread seasonal flu activity going on right now all around the U.S. But there are steps you can take to protect yourself from influenza. You can get an annual flu shot. You can take medication like Tamiflu that protects you from getting influenza after you’ve been exposed. You can cover your mouth and wash your hands to mitigate the spread. And, like clockwork, this year’s influenza strain is going to die out in the spring because it will have run its course.

The challenge with COVID-19 is that we probably can’t contain it and we don’t know if we’re really prepared as a country for a massive coronavirus epidemic. If we are lucky, it will slow down a bit over the summer but the next few months look like they are going to be pretty tough for all of us. We need to be as ready as we can for whatever comes our way and know that we will get through it eventually."

Traveled to Maui in January, fiancee fell ill a week after returning, waking up and actually crying a few times due to the pain in her chest. Fever and a cough that lasted for weeks. I caught it a week and a half/two weeks after she did - first symptom was waking up with an intense pain in my lungs/chest and a nasty cough. Fever, nausea, chills for approx. 3-4 days and I've had shortness of breath since. It's very peculiar though - for the past month I wake up feeling okay and it's not until the afternoon/early evening that I feel the shortness of breath and the overwhelming urge to clear my chest/cough and this lasts into the night. The advice nurse plays dumb when I describe feeling as if my lungs are lined with a thin film of mucous...I can feel it but no amount of coughing, (dry cough anybody?) will clear it out. I did get the nurse to admit this is strange for a person of my age and health record. Full, clear deep breaths are all but impossible, and it's VERY nagging as I have about ~90-95% "breath capacity". I also tried to describe it as feeling as If I had a cotton ball in my esophagus - I can breathe but it's still slightly restricted.

It will even go away for a day or two and then return. Very slow to clear out and the onset was the most alarming - quick and aggressive. I have no doubt if I was immunocompromised or was otherwise unhealthy I would have had to go to the hospital.

I called out of work while I had the fever and had called Kaiser to keep them informed....of course I hit a roadblock quickly after answering "no" the question of any recent travel to China. :rolleyes

I am very interested in the antibody tests hopefully being developed, for both my own curiosity and to see if indeed it was already being passed around in January.

Also - Tamiflu did nothing for my fiance and she took it the day after coming down with symptoms.

Hey G.,

I may have had it, I might not. I had what felt like the worst flu I had in my life. 103 degree temp for a week, could not hold down anything but water and Gatorade for 6 days, lost 9 pounds in that time. The body aches, chills, and headaches were unbelievable. I am still coughing like crazy. I also had other stomach issues so that is what was different from the C-virus.

The only places I go are to the post office and to the grocery store. I am literally going nuts in isolation. So far, I am not able to see my friends and that is for me worse than this disease. I don't do isolation well. Husband is going for a ride on Tuesday or Wednesday. I told him that if he gets hurt, don't expect me to be home when he returns. He will be on his own. He will not see me at the hospital, and that is just the start. If I can't hang out with the lifeblood of the community, he could wait a few weeks. But, he is insisting that he has to go for a ride.

This was supposed to be our year. Our garage was built, we got all of the garage stuff out of the house and it was supposed to be a year that we flourished. Now we are just trying not to strangle each other from stress.

G., getting as much fluids in you that you can is going to be the best thing evar. If you drink ginger ale, that is wonderful. If you don't have much appetite, chicken broth, miso soup, tofu if you can handle soy,
and plain rice are wonderful for an upset stomach. Don't worry about diet and exercise, you really need to do almost nothing until this thing runs its course.

I am so glad that my job is normally solo. I work on the Cannabis grows. I almost never see my co-workers. Hoping work will be starting soon.

If you need anything, let me know.

For almost a week I have had fever and chills
Yesterday I felt it move into my chest
I can still taste and smell
Symptoms are not severe enough to merit testing-call if they get worse :rolleyes

Wishing you a speedy recovery!

About 3 weeks ago I had chest pain/pressure for a week that I could feel all the way from my heart area to my back. Including 2 days of my entire body in pain, mainly in my back. Felt like a mild fever too. No other symptoms. No clue what that was about.

EVERYONE should read this.

I work solo in a small boat and figured there's no way that it can get ME, but what I failed to consider, is everything I come into contact with on my way to and from that boat. Handrails, dock carts, gas pumps, and of course my clients.

yes- exactly! as soon as i heard how long it can last on surfaces i immediately began wearing nitrile gloves everywhere but the home. i also think it is some bullshit that advice early on was don't worry about a mask- even a surgical mask keeps the spread down, not necessarily protecting you but keeping asymptomatic transmission down. i think the only reason this has been the advice is shortages and trying to keep panic down.

also good luck beating it down- keep in mind that they believe that it is dose related and the odds are still largely in your favor of surviving..

Both my wife and I got sick the 2nd week of Feb. I was almost bedridden for 5 days. Going from the bed to our living room would leave me short of breath. My back and ribs hurt so much from dry coughs. We are hoping that was it and we are somewhat immune to it now but no way of knowing for sure.
With my wife being in the healthcare field I really hope that's the case because she is being exposed to it a lot now. Even now I get short of breath easier. It took about 3 weeks to feel like I was at 80%

FINALLY!!
Just got the referral for testing!
Symptoms decreased then increased then decreased then increased
feel like a dizzy, hot, yoyo

From one article I read, one of the differences in symptoms between Covid-19 and the seasonal flu is that with covid-19 you lose your sense of smell and taste. So, good news (maybe?) for those who are sick but can still smell and taste food - you maybe probably don't have Covid-19.

I had a cold last week for about four days which really surprised me. I've been mostly home for almost the past two weeks except for a few runs out for food. Been washing my hands like a motherfucker yet still picked up a cold. You just have to let your guard down only once and you've got whatever is going around.

It almost carries the stigma of AiIDs. Are any barfers exibiting symptoms? Have you been exposed but feel fine?

I'm coming clean.

For almost a week I have had fever and chills
Yesterday I felt it move into my chest
I can still taste and smell
Symptoms are not severe enough to merit testing-call if they get worse :rolleyes

FWIW, I was advised a few days ago that a family where I had been working 2 weeks prior have all tested positive.

I'd like more information, I'd like to be tested, I'd like to know how quickly this freaking thing accelerates.

Anyone else in the same boat?

My friend in germany got it. Lost her taste and smell. Started to come back though.
Heal up G!

Today I lost my sense of taste and smell, this seemed to be the the deciding factor.
I go to the drive up test site tomorrow.
