Do you have it? Covid-19

G, I hope you don't have it or recover quickly if you do. I am staying thehell away from everybody as I have some immune issues and have had pneumonia before (valley fever).

That said, regarding the thing in January. I don't think it was the same. My supervisor had that. It took forwever for her to get over it. Same crap you guys are talking about. But nobody else got it. And with corona, I would expect it to have been passed around a lot more.

Same here Gwynne, get better soon..

x2 on the January sickness. I keep thinking I might have had COVID over new years because I was sicker than I can recall being in many years. Took forever to get better, and I was having difficulty breathing. I was using my old inhaler that I hadn't touched in years. In one way it would be nice to think I already had it and could be immune, but I think I would have passed it along to all my co-workers. We work in close quarters, and the office is like a big petri dish..

With all this alone time at home it's easy for the mind to run wild and every symptom makes you wonder if you have it..

Stay Hydrated! Get Rest!

I found this video helpful for what day by day symptoms can look like

There have been 23,000 deaths from flu.

https://www.cdc.gov/flu/symptoms/symptoms.htm

Flu season started in Sept thereabouts.........why wasn’t anyone concern about the impact of the Flu..

Yeah what about people who are utterly incapable of learning new things, like the difference between the number .1 and the numbers 1, 2 or 3? Why weren't we addressing that massive threat to national security sooner?

Why wasn't there stronger steps against people eating lead paint chips? Or deliberately feeding their heads an alternate reality? Why isn't there a mechanism to remove key figures who perpetuate nonsense?

I suppose if you're living under a rock, you're probably safe from all of the above.

I had that "very bad cold" earlier this year as did several of my friends right around the super bowl. Worst "colds" in our memories.

Never took my temperature though but slept in the spare room and used the spare shower as my wife is (successfully) battling breast cancer.

I had the Flu as a teenager and had massive symptoms including hallucinations as I was bed ridden for many days.

That was worse, of course, than the "bad cold" I experienced in February.

My dad came down with bad flu like symptoms right around the new year. He went on a ski trip and got symptoms and never skied. He infected my brother in law, who later came down with the same thing. My dad did get the flu vaccine, but not the BIL. My mom, sister, and her kids never got sick though. It was probably the flu, but who knows.

Isn't it interesting that, once again, if you have money, you can easily get tested. Even multiple times.

I have to say, I do believe our governor is working hard for us during this. National guard set up what I thought was to be a mobile test site, like the one in Hayward, but not sure if they have the swabs. Hoping the Open Source Network willhave something in the upcoming week.

:wtf Seriously? You're still at that point on the learning curve? This virus is waay more easily spread than the flu and more deadly. And, oh yeah, there's no vaccine for it, so a huge percentage of our population isn't immune to it like the flu.

If we had just gone about our lives normally, millions of people would die from Covid 19. That's a fact.

Back on topic, I was just thinking about my circle of coworkers, friends and their immediate families. About 300 people in all. So far nobody has had symptoms or tested positive for Covid 19 yet.

I'm fairly certain I had the flu after thanksgiving. That was horrible and I was coughing and fatigued for 3 weeks. I then had on and off again cold symptoms in late January.

My wife's family got the flu about a week before the Super Bowl. They came over for our Super Bowl party and my on/off cold symptoms became worse a couple of weeks later. I then developed a really bad sore throat and burning sinuses in early March. Followed my fatigue and a fever for 3 days. My fever went away after 3 days, but I developed chest congestion, which I still have lingering mucus to this day.

I sent an email to my doctor a week ago; I was brought into the hospital within 2 hours for additional respiratory screening. That was a bit surreal, as I had to park at the back of the hospital and wait in my car in order to be escorted in through the back employee entrance. They had tents set-up outside, for what I assume to be the worst cases.

Everyone was fully covered, felt like a war zone. I did not get tested for Covid-19, as I didn't have a fever and my chest was fairly clear. But to this day, I still have a lingering sore throat and mucus in my chest. My doctor just advised to quarantine and let them know if a fever returns.

I think I already had it, didn't get checked but stayed home. Know others in the airline industry who tried to get checked after exhibiting symptoms, but weren't tested, only told to go home and quarantine.

I think this thing has been around for quite some time.
First off, G, I sincerely hope you are okay. You are one of my favorite people around here.
I agree it may have been around longer than we realize. That's why I took a leave of absence from my job. We had 7....yes, SEVEN cases of pneumonia go through our facility in just over 2 months. 6 were staff members, 1 was a resident...and one of the 7 resulted in a fatality. (a fellow counselor). That was around Thanksgiving/Christmas
My g/f (we live together) has compromised immune system and if I dragged anything bad home to her I would never, ever forgive myself. As of now I am healthy but somewhat unemployed and am faced with the decision on when to go back. This thing will no doubt be around a while, longer than I can afford to stay away. I'm basically taking this thing 2 weeks at a time.....and will be sending positive thoughts your way G....the entire time.

Take it easy Gwynne! Lot's of rest and hydration and stay away from ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.) There seems to be synergistic effects with Covid19. I've heard this from several reputable sources.

I'm here if you need anything.

I'm sorry to hear this G! Take care yourself and let us know if you need anything.
Covid 19 is like the flu. You were not doing anything reckless to contract it and you actually don't even know you have. There is no stigma! Rest and be well.
