Hi Tracy,
Thanks for supporting BARF riders!

Couple questions:
If a rider has an accident, he/she may not be in any condition to tell EMT's or Police that they are a member of your net work.

If it is determined you need a life flight, I would think local authorities are going to get you aboard what ever company they contract with who are near by ... and the rider may not have any say.
They won't be calling your network. And if that flight service is not part of your network?

So how does that work?

I assume I'd get a bill for transport and if my insurance does not pay it, either all or part, then would you guys step up and pay the balance? The entire amount? Or do you negotiate with my insurance company ... or what?

Second question:
Do you guys do international? (based on your coverage map, I guess not)
Lots of riders here ride in Mexico. (mostly Baja California)

There are Life Flight evac companies one can contract with, like Ripcord (http://www.ripcordrescuetravelinsurance.com)
and one or two others that due pretty much world wide coverage.

Any info appreciated.

Also, is there a way to check for service by zip code? Are services provided throughout Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Alameda counties?

I tried the code and it came back $65/year. I thought is was $55. Thanks.

We are dispatched by the Emergencies Medical Service (911), first responder or the doctor is recommending an airlift to another hospital for treatment. This is why our Membership is so important when these traumatic medical traumas happen. Because you can have comfort with Membership, knowing you will have no out of pocket costs. These airlifts can cost thousands of dollars and very few insurance companies cover 100%. Membership covers what your insurance will not cover and takes care of your deductible also..it's amazing deal!!!
BARF, has a discounted Membership only, $65 per year, per household, and valid in 38 states, for the Emergent Program. We all pay more for our monthly cell phone bill!!!! So this is a "No brainer" really. Peace of mind is a priceless. Please get enrolled today.

Hi Tracy,
I need coverage in Marin, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties. From your website map the closest locations are Oakland, Gilroy and Santa Rosa which are outside my areas of interest.

Let's say I need a flight out of the Santa Cruz mountains. Would 911 dispatch a flight from either of your Salinas or Oakland providers? Seems too far.

Hi RVRick,

The bases that would cover your requests:
Concord
Oakland
Stockton
Modesto
Gilroy
Salinas

Each base has emergency services (911), 150 radius of each base. Transports from hospital to hospital, ranges are different. This is a scheduled transport, and some flights can be from, Los Angeles to San Francisco.
A base may seem far, but these are nautical miles. Also, one of our air ambulance may already be in within a vicinity, returning from a hospital and able to respond to an accident/scheduled airlift. Depending on which base is closer to patient.
I hope that answered you questions.

Have a great day!!!!

Hey All,

Don't think of coverage just where you are , but think larger. We all go on vacation, compete, travel for work, visit family out of state. You might end up in a hospital, by ground ambulance, and then be airlifted to a higher level of care, for treatment. We never know when these medical emergencies will happen, they just happen.

Just signed up!

It was a bit confusing on the signup when I went to add my wife, the "relation" options were "secondary" and "other." I think I put secondary, but may have put other. Hope it's copacetic.

Thanks for doing what you do.
