Friend of mine is moving out of an apartment and into a decent size house with a decent size yard :). He currently has a rather large great dane / pitt mix who's adorable but high energy. Think all the energy of a pitt / staffie with all the size of a great dane's skeleton filled out to near-pittie proportions. I think it would greatly help exercise for her if he got another dog for her to play with while he's at work... ;) will point him your way if things work out!

A poor sweet 15 year old Labrador doggy needs our help. He is at the Martinez shelter (4800 Imhoff Place, Martinez), surrendered due to "family issues"

He has some visible medical issues that come with old age, and he has some small tumors.

He might not have long left to live, poor old bugger

This might be his last Thanksgiving, Christmas and winter. He deserves to spend them in a nice warm home

Can you help him? Can you take him in and provide warmth and comfort for whatever time he has left??

We need to know if you are serious about adopting Spike. Pulling together a plan gets very difficult when multiple people show interest so the sooner we can finalize a safe exit for him, the better :)

Let me know. I can meet you at the shelter if you want me to. I have strings I can pull there if any need pulling

Meet & greet at the rescue ranch this saturday

For anyone interested in Adopting, Fostering, or even just volunteering for an afternoon, Hearts For Paws Rescue will be hosting a small Meet & Greet Event on the Ranch from 11:30-1:30 THIS SATURDAY.


SPIKE WAS ADOPTED!!!!!




We currently have 7 available sweet dogs all in need of a home:

1. Leo, 3-month old Corgi-Mix ADOPTED!!!
2. Teela, 11 month Belgian Malinois Mix adopted
3. Pluto, 8 yr Chow Chow MixADOPTED
4. Lucky, 2 yr. Purebred Black Lab ADOPTED
5. Reddy, 1.5 yr Shepherd/Pointer ADOPTED
6. Koda Bear, 11m Samoyed/Alaskan Shepherd
7. Scooby, 5 yr Beagle ADOPTED

This would be a fantastic time to come down and meet the gang, and have fun on the ranch. Forecast is sunny weather!

The Astro turf post is great. Interestingly someone offered me the football field near Travis AFB HS. There is literally a football field in the back of my farm now. :laughing. A farmer-or a dog- can never have enough green though so I might contact that guy. Thanks!

edit: Diesel adopted , then not adopted, then readopted two days after Christmas!!!!!
Foster was considering, balked, backed out then had a change of heart at Christmas time ! Woot!

That's a tough answer for me. It's not a breed answer, it's a personality one.
However I can emphatically say that the breed that is happy to be alone all day is the breed that has another dog as a companion :)
One is a lonely number and two medium dogs make for one happy owner!!
