2021 Ford Bronco - shots fired

Speaking of Ford Trucks. What do you think of the upcoming Maverick? Unibody based and smaller than Ranger (perhaps maybe the size of the last Ranger).

Before someone jumps in and says we should start another thread to discuss it in detail (and they'd be right, actually), I'll just say that the small truck market has largely been left behind for a reason. Literally no manufacturer is going to be able to build a true small truck in today's market which requires so many weight and cost adding safety features and still make that truck at a price point that is comparable to the old Toyota HiLux, Nissan Hardbody, Mazda B2200 and Ford Courier/Rangers. It just isn't going to happen. That being said, the Maverick, as I understand, will be FWD with an AWD option exactly the same as the Bronco Sport it will share its platform with. It will be built well and fit a niche in the market that needs a product and I have no doubt that there's a need for a smaller and certainly more utilitarian contractor/work truck on today's market. But American customers aren't going to want to pay for what it'd cost to make one in today's world. For those reasons, I think it'll sell well in Europe, Central America, South America, Asia and Australia, but it will bomb in North America. :2cents

Agreed. Speaking of the Bronco Sport then.

They’re out and at dealers. Has anyone driven one or even seen it up close? I really only care about the big Bronco, so the Sport has not received any of my attention at all.

I actually haven't seen either in person yet. But none of the dealers around here are big players in the market except maybe The Ford Store in Morgan Hill. But that's basically on another planet in terms of distance for me right now due to COVID so I haven't been down that way recently.

I suspect only the big volume dealers are going to see models in the upcoming months/year.

I know Frontier Ford here on Stevens Creek got a Sport a few weeks ago. Saw it being unloaded off a transporter. And it had all the protective stickers and so on, so I know it was an actual production retail delivery.

But it was likely a customer order which means as far as the public is concerned, it's "hands off". I mean a dealer taking inventory of a non-sold product.

Fully loaded too, I see. I hate that dealers never get mid-level trim units for their first deliveries. Had the same problem when trying to buy my Ranger.

Just saw one in Alameda yesterday. I’m not in the market, nor willing to get rid of my 4Runner but can say it looked sharp!!

that's right - you'll only see Bronco Sports right now. I've seen rumors of covid-related delays for the Bronco, and rumors of production-related issues delaying the release - but late this year seems to be the current target. I know that some people who put down a deposit have been told that they'll be getting a 2022 model instead of a 2021...

The first Broncos are supposed to show up in early summer. Maybe. There are a number of equipment combinations that won't be available until the 2022 model year. I'm hoping the one I want - Base + Sasquatch - is available my summer.

Ralph Gilles was the President and CEO of Chrysler's SRT brand and Senior Vice President of Design at Chrysler before being promoted to Head of Design for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in April 2015.

So...it's not entirely out of the realm of possibilities.

He's also the one responsible for the alien Jeep styling, so YMMV.

Saw my first Sport in the wild last week. Looks better in person than I thought it would. I think they’ll sell a lot of these things.
