I don't know how to say it another way.
To be clear, I want kids to be able to live happy, fulfilled lives living out identities that they've determined for themselves. I understand that some of these identities might make some folks uncomfortable in the collateral, but when the result is that they're happy and confident with who they are, isn't that worth it?
Okay, but what you said makes zero sense to me. I want to understand you, but I cannot grok what you said.

Sorry but this makes zero sense to me.
Do you actually have small kids or is this a subjective opinion?
The minds of children just don't work this way. They learn and pick things up as they grow. One of these things is the understanding of their biological gender.
Later on, sure, they can identify as purple unicorns or whatever makes them happy but it's a pretty big ask to expect a small child or toddler to determine their own gender.
We asked the Docs/techs not to reveal the gender of our now 35 year old daughter.
I guess that is now odd?
Not at all. My neighbors are due in a month. They don't know nor do they want to know the gender of their kid. I like that.
No one should be asking children to identify as anything - that's the point. Its holding space for them to explore their own identity on their own time. And its quite a bit easier to explore that identity when you don't have one impressed upon you from birth.
Yeah good telling a toddler to "hold space". :laughing My boy would probably identify as a fire truck or something.
at ~4 years old, my now 18 year old insisted on being called Dragon, because he was being a dragon for significant portions of the day. t-ball was hilarious but also painful because apparently dragons don't really hustle between bases (as much as any 4 year old understands hustling between bases)

I feel like you're trying to turn this into something it isn't. It's literally just giving them the opportunity to explore their gender identity without impressing on them that they need to conform one way or other.
Its the same as letting them figure out what kind of work they would like to do instead of putting an expectation on them that they need to be a doctor or a lawyer.

There is absolutely ZERO wrong with raising your kids to be like you.
You shouldn't be shitty to them if they don't play along, but raising your kids to be the person you want them to be is a fundamentally what the hell being a parent IS.
