This is my 6th year of riding but my first year attending the IMS.
Ashamed that I haven't made it previous years, but agree that when the chips are down, we need to show our support to keep things like this alive.:thumbup

Besides Dave Benj. won't let me ride in my duct taped boots and holey gloves anymore, so I guess I need a new pair.:p

See you guys there.

What day ya going Dani??

And what size shoes you wear..you probably have teensy feet, but I have an extra pair of Sidi Vertigo Lei's size 43(I wear women's 10)

Hopefully they have more gear there..really was only one from So Cal there that had SOME stuff..but not a huge selection..lots of Icon stuff mostly and MX stuff..

I will be there all day Saturday sitting on lots of bikes and checking out the MotoGP bikes!:thumbup

I went last year and it was my first time going. I'm not going to say it sucked but I was expecting more in terms of vendors and cool neat stuff. Yes the bikes were the main attraction but I was hoping to find something I couldn't believe I lived without. Vendors were sparse and what they did have was uninteresting. I go to tons of street faires and wine and art festivals, so maybe I'm just used to being overwhelmed with new and different "stuff". We went to the San Mateo Harvest Festival and there was just so much to see, new and different. Heck, I went to my first gun show a couple of weekends ago and my mind was completely blown! I brought my 3 year old daughter with me and her stroller was packed with stuff cause I didn't really expect to buy so much. That's kinda what I was hoping for at the IMS. But I did come home with a free "Flo's Posse" T-Shirt that I'm pretty proud of :ride

Here's a pic after a few short hours at the Cow Palace.

I'm definitely going to swing by, as I always do. Sunday...that should work. Buying my ticket now. The only remaining question is whether or not I can convince the wifey to join me. Not exactly her cup-O-noodles.

They still don't get it. The IMS is a snooze-fest. New bikes are not enough.

Would you pay to go into a dealership? That's all this show is- it's basically a multi-franchise showroom. Big fucking deal.

Would you pay a waiter to just take a look at the menu at a restaurant? Fuck no.

Woo-Hoo! Got our tickets. The Weef and I are goin on Saturday. I'm lookin forward to this, actually. It should be a fun day. Kinda anxious to get a look at the GP bikes on display. See you all there! :thumbup

EDIT - I realize I am showing my n00bness by getting excited for this, but that's OK. :laughing It'll be fun just checkin stuff out. Somethin different to do and all that. Might even get to meet some of you fine folks.

Yeah yeah yeah it's shrinking. Still fun though. I wish they still had the amount of gear/accessory vendors as they have had in the past for women.

And don't rush me off any bikes either. My surgeon says I can't ride mine until next season so I am taking my sweet damn time sitting on whatever I can...wait....that didn't come out right....you get my point...wait....forget it. :rofl

We will be there Saturday afternoon :twofinger

I don't think it's IMS's fault if businesses naturally cut back their advertising (which participation at the show qualifies) for the lean years. Having a booth at any show ain't cheap. This isn't exactly a unique development to the moto industry. For the last 4 or 5 years, trade shows suffered poor attendance (by both exhibiters and participants) across the country. Many show organizers shuttered their doors.

For the sake of supporting and continuing an IMS event in the SF-Bay Area, let's all go this year... and let's all buy something at the show. Huge attendance and good number of transactions would encourage more of our local moto businesses to participate next year.

Alan, don't be a Mr. Grumpypants!! :shame
It's NOT the same as going to a restaurant! I get to climb all over bikes, try on gear, boots, gloves... and see TONS of stuff in ONE CONVENIENT LOCATION!! :banana
It's like a giant BARF Meet that we let some strangers and hardley guys show up at... it's gonna be AWESOME!!! :teeth
I hope everyone who's there on Sunday stops by the AFM booth to say hi! And if you've ever been interested in being a corner worker, and being one of the guys/gals that keeps us safe out there when we're racing, then you can get more info, or even sign up! :)
