International Motorcycle Show in San Mateo, Low turn out

Last year at the International Motorcycle Show, there was a lot a vacant areas in the buildings were vendors, and motorcycle manufactures were in the past shows. It seems the motorcycle industry is in a slump, and the IMS is reflecting it. Can anyone say that this is going to be a full vendor and motorcycle manufactures at the show this year. I don't want to attend to see, the same old shit again.

A good turnout is one way to ensure more participation from vendors and manufacturers in the future.

I'll be there working at the AFM booth, and I'm looking forward to seeing all the awesome new bikes!

If anyone's ever given thought to racing in the AFM, come on by and see what its all about! :)
I can honestly say that racing in the AFM is even more fun than I imagined it to be! So come on out, ask your questions, and join us next year! :banana

Triumph will actually have a display, that will be a first...I always expect it to suck, but I get to sit on all the new stuff all at the same time...without any pressure...
then it's off to the Car show the next week I think yes?

Triumph was actually out with a full display LAST year...I should know..I sat on that red Thruxton personally at least 8 times..and threw my leg over a purty purple street triple! And of course ogled over "ma famiglia" of bikes...the bonnies...I luvz my Bonnie...cannot wait to see Triumph again next week!

I agree...people need to turn out or it will die.

I am looking forward to seeing all the motogp bikes on display and take a picture on one..but PULEEASE...I want an umbrella boy and not umbrella girl.:x

First of all, they shouldn't charge admission. It's a joke. It's like charging a fee to go into a dealership. Plus, you can't even buy a bike there even if you wanted to. :nchantr The industry is shrinking in a big way and they aren't changing their approach. No more AMA at Sears Point. No more bay area IMS is probably next.

The IMS website claims that H-D, Triumph, BMW, Honda, Suzuki, and Can-Am are "tourwide participants". Kawasaki, Ducati, Yamaha, and Star are "multiple-market participants" (e.g. they don't show up everywhere). They don't list anyone else, which makes me think the show is likely to suck as much this year as it has in the recent past. Nick Ienatsch and Ken Hill will be there on Saturday to talk about the Yamaha Champions Riding School. "Mr. Daytona" Scott Russel will also be there on Sat.

Definitely not Triumph's first appearance. I remember seeing and sitting on that monster 2liter titan thing they introduced years ago at the show.

So, I'm curious... to all the people complaining about it "sucking"... it's a huge collection of sparkling new gorgeous motorcycles you can look at, gawk at, drool over, and sit on... they'll even have free demonstration rides, I believe... there's all sorts of people there to talk motos with... vendors with cool stuff to look at and buy... plus trackday providers and the aforementioned AFM booth for anyone with an interest in getting on track, racing or becoming a corner worker... so what more do y'all want? Is it at the same scale it was in the past? No. Is the economy? No. Are you all out buying new bikes? No? Then is it really a surprise they scaled it back?
Criminy... it's a weekend filled with motorcycles, motorcycle gear, accessories, and scads of people all interested in motorcycles! w00t!!! :banana
Seems like loads of fun to me, and much better than sitting around watching TV or doing chores! :)

Exactly... and +1 on the Umbrella boy... :laughing

Ain't like the old days, but new bikes and old friends always sucks me in.

Nothing's ever like the old days... someday, these will be the old days... so how cool is it that we can enjoy the 'old days' now?? :)

Yeah I don't know what the complaining is all about. What were you expecting?
Its just a chance to check out some new bikes. There was always just a few bikes I'd be interested in but I'd still look at them all even the Harleys.

Connie, too far for the folks FROM the BA to travel..:twofinger.
Every year I see more and more whine about going to the LOCAL race tracks because it might take more than 30 minutes and then whine about the show shrinking and then going away. If we don't go, they wont come. Simple as that.
As far as charging , aparently Allan hasn't gone to a major auto show in recent years. It all costs, set up, transport, employees, time, etc.
Hope to see you all there:thumbup
