Not as fast as I look.
Redding is a piece of work. That is for sure. Let's see if he can keep his head above water unlike Bautista. It seems, at least, that Mr. Rea won't be running away with the 'ship.

Sykes said he felt he was running a comfortable pace but still encountered more rear tire wear than expected which caused him to drop off the front pack.

Sweet pic from the finish of race 1.

That is a good pic. :thumbup

Fun race. I was hoping 31 would hold the top ten, but it is early in his SBK career. We will see.

Lowes impressed. The Honda's looked good.
I like Redding for some weird reason...:laughing

Nice to see some dicing in 2020 :party

As the race was starting, I had a thought; with all of the GP inspired homologation specials and ex GP riders coming into Superbike, and Johnny Rea being too much of a scaredy cat to go to motogp has done him no favors, seeing as motogp came to him. I wish he didn't crash so he could've lost fair and square

Fuck yes! That was the racing we wanted AND needed!!!

- Lowe’s was most impressive to me
- Razzy should be feared
- Yamaha finally formidable??? Yesssss
- Bautista and Rea getting up front will make this year maybe the best ever as spectators
- Davies, who? Cmon man. Been on this bike too long to get results like that

Race 2, LFG!!!!

PS: WSBK > MotoGP

(Yeah I said it)

Here is a track walk with Johnny Rea from before this year's Phillip Island test. Not a corner-by-corner analysis but he does provide some unfiltered insights that are pretty entertaining.

Garrett Gerloff sitting out today's races due to possible concussion from a crash during warm up.

From Twitter:

Yamaha Racing @yamaharacingcom

After an initial medical assessment following his WUP crash, @garrettgerloff
has been passed UNFIT to ride due to the possibility of concussion. The American will be transported to hospital in Melbourne for further evaluation. Gerloff sustained no other njures in the crash.

EDIT: More info on Gerloff from WorldSBK.com: https://www.worldsbk.com/en/news/2020/American+star+Gerloff+to+miss+remainder+of+Phillip+Island+event

Eugene Laverty also declared unfit with a concussion due to what appears to be a separate crash in warm up.

EGAD!! That sprint race was fun to watch.

Toprak is coming!

JR fan, so, nice to see him recover from the race 1 crash.

Redding looking menacing.

EEEEEEEE what a season that could be coming.

Another thriller. No reason to expect different for WSBK race 2. WSS should be great with the new GP refugees mixed in with the regulars.

I don't have any details on the Australian Superbike races. Read that Josh Hayes had a 10th in race 1 and a DNF in race 2.

He's never been offered a paycheck to ride in MotoGP.

IIRC he was offered a spot at lcr (or was it gresini) after he won the title for Honda and he took it as an insult because they didn't offer the repsol seat.

Race 2 was a good time. I'm happy for Lowes. Redding needs more time with the pirellis but he's definitely a contender. Hardcharger award goes to Davies for coming from 15th to 5th. Putting in that work!

All THREE SBK races are very very good to watch !!
No more Rea domination, no more Bautista winning with 10+ seconds ...

Rea shows he's still the master but now followed by a large number of young and very hungry wolves.

Ezpeleta is afraid of Rea. :laughing and he can go eat a d#$# for saying how WSBK is inferior to GP on one side of his mouth and that the bikes need to be more stock to slow them down on the other side. :laughing

I agee that all three WSBK races were good. Some very aggressive riding. Everyone must have performance clauses. $$ :ride

The SuperSport race was stupid. Perhaps they need to practice tire changes like in F1, or maybe just get faster changing mechanics, or maybe go to a Big O and watch the pros. :cool

The WSS teams had a minimum time for the tire change. I don't believe there were any issues with the actual tire changes. Some riders left the pit lane too early and were penalized equal to the time under the pit minimum whether it was one tenth of second (Cluzel) or a few seconds.

Just finished Race 2. Some great racing this weekend! I was rooting for Baz until he got pushed into the grass. That Yamaha is really down on power...
