When your newest vehicle is 9 years old - and it’s a motorcycle

My 2012 BMW R1200GS is the newest vehicle we own. Our main driver is a Lexus SUV, 2011. Two other cars are more for fun/play, and both are old: a 1988 and a 2003. And I am just now realizing that my bike is already almost 9 years old - I bought it almost new in 2012 with 800 miles on it. Now over 50k. Dang. Time flies.

My car is a 1998 528i with nearly 230k miles. My wife's car is a 2001 E320 4matic with 120k. My bike is a 1997 Tiger with around 40k. I guess we like old shit :laughing

You are smart is what that tells me! :thumbup

Down to one bike, 2008 model, and still loving my last new car.

Bought it in 1994.

Retired at age 51 for some odd reason. :laughing

2009 Triumph and 2006 4Runner. Love em both so I don’t consider myself deprived or anything.

At 64, I kind of wonder if I can make the car the last one I own. I have no desire to have anything new, from the loan to the tech. The 4Runner has enough processors as it is.

I've owned very very few new vehicles. Not sure if it's because they don't tickle my fancy or its because I'm a cheap bastard

I'd love to see a picture of your Mister Two.:thumbup
I turned wrenches for Toyota for a buncha years.

It's still currently dead at the moment. :( Working from home hasn't helped motivation to do much about it.

I've been a Toyota man my whole life.

89' Supra
92' Supra (Twin turbo engine swaps on both)
06' Corolla
89' MR-2
88' SC MR-2

My 92 Supra was a very special car for me but the 88 MR-2 is a close 2nd.

Edit: Added a picture of the 92 Supra since I figured you'd appreciate it.

Yeah, at 64 I just dropped $4k on an excellent new suspension on my '94 r model Miata with 189k miles onit and have zero desire to replace it.

Runs as good as new.

I'm trying to get State Farm to change my policy to "declared value" as very few were made and you can't find a good one for less than 7 grand.

Right now I think State Farm thinks it is worth 2 grand. :laughing

Cool stuff, all of it.
No shame in the lack of noise coming out of the Mister Two. It will happen in it's own time. I'm looking forward to the "complete restoration with ridiculous mods" build thread whenever you get around to it.
And the Supra is another Toy-Cult car. Sweet. :cool

Cool thread. I have Haggerty Insurance which convers “declared value”... ‘73 Porsche 914 with a 993 motor.
My newest vehicle is the 06 Rangey.... i guess I like old stuff.

If you have A German Car from the 80's they are still tanks that work great and aren't usually hard to fix. I just am not willing to dump $20k into one of those $2k cars to restore it up to cherry.

I'm almost seventy years old. Never had money so I bought cheap, fixed it and kept it.

Origami plastics and over the top electronics seemed always to be a money pit waiting to pounce so I just kept what worked and I could work on.

My VTR 1000 F seems to suit. The R 100 RS is an art project if you think in simplist terms.

My cage is a 2012 Civic SI with Hondata tuning.

I think I'm set for my seventh decade. (I'm a vehicle marketer's tough nut to crack.)
