What Business Do You Want to Re-open Most?

Spoke to my sensei about opening up the karate dojo and he's hoping 2nd week of June. I teach there, and he wanted to see if I wanted to remain on my old schedule. We hope were not lumped into the gym protocol.

In terms of my MMA gym, I don't see that happening until phase 4, however, I train and partially coach striking, which we can do using social distancing. Just no partner drills or sparring. For the BJJ guys, unless you just work on form a ghost drilling, I can't see training partnerless - maybe a rolling dummy? Us strikers have bags and such to hit.

But yeah, I'd like my martial arts training places to reopen. I also miss teaching kids.
Have they considered holding classes outside?

It would be a much safer option, if there is a place to do it, more distance and less enclosed. Just a thought.

(For reference, I was a tournament fighter back in the 80's, heavy into karate for 5-1/2 years until my work had me travelling to much to keep up my training)

What bars in the city are your favorites? I have been spending some time in the mission lately. Before lock down I was getting to know a few of the cities fine dive bars....

My Regular these days is Raven Bar.

Lalita Thai is also a great go to dive with food. Aunt Charlies has the cheapest Drink Set in the whole damn City. Mason Sports Bar is a great go to for a quick one, but is stank as fuck, same thing for Cinnabar which is a great wreck to visit. Smuggler's Cove is fun, but gets too busy and I always end up spending a shit ton on Rum I don't really appreciate enough to justify.

I like the Rumpus Room, but don't know them that well. They tend to be a back up when I need to be closer to Market and 6th for some reason.

I JUST started hanging out and Grasslands and Forbidden Idol right before the SIP. Forbidden Idol is a hip disaster and provides an excellent Tiki Experience, but it is no Forbidden Island.

Grasslands I think is going to be my new jam. It is small, weird, and I am pretty sure a front for the Tongs. It is like 2 blocks from my new office.

Poker.

Not the slots, craps, wheel or Blackjack. Texas Holdem.

It'll be the last of the gaming venues in casinos to be safely brought into play.
