I really can't complain. I have a nice little place that's very comfortable and a yard to boot. Not only that, I have a TV set up in the detached garage for working out (even though it smells a little like unleaded all the time). My biggest problem is a desk-to-refrigerator-proximity issue. But... I miss this little second-hand store I visit in my neighborhood every weekend. There's a lady that works there on Saturdays and I always come by and say hi. She broke her hip right before Covid, and I'm worried about her. I want to see Clara back behind the counter with her hot pink lipstick from the 50's and her crazy bleach-blonde hair.

I have some older friends that I have not seen either. None have hot pink lipstick, but they have their own little pieces of flamboyance!
Grandparents were such a huge part of my life as a kid. I lost the last one several years ago, but I have some "adopted" ones, like Clara. That's one of the real tragedies of Covid--the loss of this older generation, their wisdom, their history.
My husband's grandmother has suffered a minor stroke during this pandemic, so the other place I'd like to have open is her nursing home. No visitors for months for her probably. I think it's hard on her. She's all alone all day. She hasn't complained once. Pretty ballsy lady. I'd be scared out of my mind, lonely, and whining non-stop.

DucatiHoney and budman thank you for the reminder of the everyday joys of people. I got caught up in places forgetting the people I see in the neighborhood. Lefty I’m also in need of a pedicure which is next door to my place and when I slack off shaving my head Nena cuts my hair in the same shop. Been trying to be a regular at a local coffee shop but not on a name basis yet. I wonder if a mask decreases recognition? Hoping I don’t get to figure that one out.

Spoke to my sensei about opening up the karate dojo and he's hoping 2nd week of June. I teach there, and he wanted to see if I wanted to remain on my old schedule. We hope were not lumped into the gym protocol.
In terms of my MMA gym, I don't see that happening until phase 4, however, I train and partially coach striking, which we can do using social distancing. Just no partner drills or sparring. For the BJJ guys, unless you just work on form a ghost drilling, I can't see training partnerless - maybe a rolling dummy? Us strikers have bags and such to hit.
But yeah, I'd like my martial arts training places to reopen. I also miss teaching kids.

This is exactly where I'm at.
I still enjoy zoom training sessions for karate but I'm over it for jiu jitsu. I can wait. The extended time off ain't ideal it is what it is. Small potatoes of a concern in light of everything else going on.
