Vegans protesting restaurant get front row of deer being butchered

I remember seeing a Berkeley butcher shop facing similar protests by vegans. I believe they wanted him to post a sign saying eating meat was cruel. He caved in then they came back demanding he cease serving meat. I like this chef's approach. Maybe extreme for some, but the article states he offered the group to go forage for ingredients with him and they haven't responded. I LOL'd reading the article.

vegans meat protest/

TL;DR: vegans protest restaurant serving meat. Chef carves up a deer leg in front window. Awesome response by chef or no?

Seems like everyone involved is kind of an asshole.

But the protestors seem a little worse.

Taze away, Yana...
Every time something like this turns up in my world I simply ask the three questions.

How do you feel about the Westboro Baptist Church?

Would you allow them to dictate your life no matter how strongly You disagree?

Why do you think my reaction to your beliefs could possibly be any different from you towards them?

You be you, and I'll be me. One day I may change my mind, but if you'll excuse me, I'm hungry.

The article seems to conflate veganism with a type of aggressive, and socially frowned upon activism. Probably just another hatchet job from the combined forces of the beef and poultry lobbies.

French vegan woman is up in court for saying on social media that she has zero sympathy for the butcher who was killed by a terrorist.

I'm sorry, did we watch the same video? "Long line of ranchers and beef processors"?? Callousness?

The man trimmed a leg in a window... If somehow trimming a leg in a window its tantamount to "callousness of which you have never seen". I have no idea how your family ever slept at night because the busines of beef processing is one of the ugliest in the biz.

Would you care to elaborate on your thoughts?

I don't think the restaurant owner was being an asshole. It was a fair way to make a point to the protesters that he was not going to stop serving meat. I thought the protesting vegans were the assholes as the entire exchange was one sided, they cried about animal murder etc. but showed no consideration for the restaurant owner and offered zero compromise to help maintain the restaurant owner's livelihood.

I think its doubly worse that their protest actually deterred patrons from dining their and potentially costed the restaurant some money. The money that supports the staff, etc. and their way of life. What did the vegans lose? They volunteered to protest, they called the cops and used public resources for a non-crime, and as far as I can tell made no positive impact to society in this exchange.

Rolls with it...
I worked for a chef that ordered a sow with suckling piglets for a special meal.

He used every part of those animals for the dinner. I watched, it was amazing.

fuck the patrons of restaurants and costing said restaurants money. let me tell you a little story about a wild black horse. so fierce, he could barely be ridden. a majestic creature if there ever was one. he was stolen away by thieves in the middle of the night - and ended up on a plate in a restaurant in san francisco. he died so some overfed asshole could enjoy a meal, wipe his greasy mouth on his white napkin and pack on another couple of pounds. worth it? not by a long shot.

I love that the Chef's name is Michael Hunter, and he owns a restaurant that serves venison.

I thought horse couldn't be sold in America as human food? Or is that just slaughtered in America?
