The Oakland A's want to build a stadium by Laney College

Yes and I was aware I was not in Shangri-La; I didn't live in a great area either, but everyone on t3h BART before and after games were all about the game. May have been one or two crazies on the train, but I never witnessed any shit going down. I was never hassled, nor anyone in my family.

I realize the area has always been ghetto, but my point is that it's gotten worse over the years and that's unfortunate. I don't BART for any reason any more, anywhere, any time.

Yeah, agreed. I BART only in commute hours now, and carry a knife.

I like what I saw of the rendering of the new facility.

I am with Roundboy on the positives of having major sports teams in the Bay Area.

Looks like an awesome venue for a Supercross.

I don't care if we have them or not. I very much care if the City of Oakland puts up one penny to bring them here.

Fifty years ago ML sports were something the average schmuck could identify with. Today it's a league of wealthy millionaires being paid by wealthy billionaires. I quit going to games long ago.

I'm not saying "tough shit" to anyone. I just don't care. I don't see the average sport fan in the Bay Area doing anything to improve motorcycle racing attendance in the Bay Area. In other words, just don't care. One of my ex GF's mother was the president of the A's fan club for a while, and made all the trips to Arizona, had lots of souvenirs, etc. If that's what makes you happy, cool. But I don't have any desire to subsidize, through local government and taxes, your happiness.

Yeah, I get that, ya crabby old bastid! And, you carry a knife!:afm199:laughing

Hey... I carry a knife too... and can be crabby once in a while. :afm199

Ernie,

I get it. A lot of people do or don't... 50 years of the swinging A's history would be sad to lose even though I am not a huge fan.

I was a big fan back in the Catfish Hunter, Vida Blue, and Campy Campaneris (only ML player to play every position on the field and bat right and left handed) days! Loved those A's when they were winning and champions on a nickel and dime budget.

The area is simply OAKLAD at night, and anyone taking BART takes a real risk of getting mugged or robbed.

The idea was to develop the entire area into shops and apartments, but nobody wants to go to OAKLAND to do anything. Nobody in their right mind.

Do you not realize how much better Oakland is than the boring as fuck northbay? Real nightlife, real restaurants, real transit connections to the rest of the bay. Apparently you didn't get the same memo as the rest of bay, which is now clamoring to move to Oakland and shooting property prices through the roof.

The top 1-2% physically gifted men throwing, hitting, fielding balls in excess of 100mph.

A 90mph fastball takes .4 seconds to reach home plate after it leaves a pitcher's hand, but a hitter needs a full .25 seconds to see the ball and react.

And all of them can tell you the rotation as it comes out of the pitcher's hand with a 90%+ accuracy. Super human. I don't get it. Why do people insist on promoting and valuing their own individualism and strengths while condemning others for their individual exceptionalism?

:laughing Then why all the East bay people coming to the 415 to party all the time? The only people trying to live in the East Bay are the people who can't afford the 415 or 650, and aren't desperate enough to take Vallejo...

:facepalm

:rofl

Has nothing to do with 'affordability' but more desirability. I've been in SF the past 3 weekends looking for wedding venues and couldn't get the hell out of there fast enough. It's a smelly pretentious dump now. You can keep your skyrocketing rents, no parking, huge homeless problem, and crime while I enjoy my 2 car garage, backyard and no parking meters.

The east bay has a lot to offer, if it's what you're looking for. City to suburban life.

Rolls with it...
I actually went to some of those World Series games.
A product of a well connected father. I was about 10 years old.

I see Reggie around town from time to time, for some reason he says hi to me, but I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm someone else.... :laughing
