If nobody else is interested, I may be.
difference between 1 and 2?
You know it's energy draw?
your guys' stuffs look very good! well done, BARF.
I've come into a goodly amount that would last me too long, so I did some research into concentrating.
Looks to me that ethanol extraction is a good way to go. I've settled on the Source Turbo extractor. Due to the pressure it uses, it can keep the temps low (~105F) to boil off the ethanol, leaving a nice concentrate oil. This can be decarbed for edibles or low temp dabs, or just smoked/vaped from here, or further processed. I haven't received it yet, but the reviews are getting me super stoked.
Unfortunately I didn't end up with any sugar leaf or decent trimmings. Supposedly this little machine can extract very well from all that leftover material.
How does it work? I make a tincture with a Magical Butter and then use an electric still to remove the alcohol and then I finish in a magnetic mixer/heat plate. You get weed oil. I decarb the weed first and use it in gummies.
The Magical Butter then still is great and produces the same kind of stuff, but I've read that the heat needed to boil off the ethanol (or solvent) comes at the expense of terpine destruction. On the Source, there's a vacuum pump that decreases the pressure, which also decreases the boiling point for ethanol. Thus protecting the flavorious terpines. Also, probably like your still, you reclaim 90-95% of the ethanol for future use (also wouldn't smell nearly as bad as just boiling it off into atmosphere).
smoke/vape it just like that, or decarb to use in edibles.
The site says it's awesome for tinctures too!

I'll buy one this weekend if available
Probably the V2
Thanks a lot!

So after some quick research, my extract is likely black because I didn't sufficiently filter it.They used a Buchner vacuum filtration system with a pump (I own a vacuum pump) and that's why theirs is so clean. I will learn from this I could get a setup for like $60
:thumbup
also, it may be that warm extraction is much more susceptible to leaching of non-desirables like chlorophyll etc. The cold or super-cold extraction will yield less per extraction, but should produce a cleaner product*
*this info is all from web research so far. I can't wait to try it myself!
