Since the passage of Prop 64, it seems like a few people have started dabbling in legal cultivation.

This is for tips, tricks and info. Maybe even the sharing of a cutting here and there. :teeth

Whadda ya got? (I'll post up shortly)

Hell, every third warehouse in my 'hood is a grow spot. I've probably learned a ton from osmosis, lol.

My college roommate made a small fortune growing and selling back when it was still quite illegal.

IMHO the home grower can grow enough on their won for their own purposes quite easily. Hopefully that'd slow down the creep of big tobacco into the biz.

After the initiative passed, which allows legal possession of:

- 1 oz dried
- 8 grams "concentrated"
- 6 live plants within a private home as long as it is in a locked area not visible from a public place

For reasons not relevant here, I am not willing to go the medical card route.

And since it is now legal to possess, it isn't yet legal to sell, that makes getting those plants started a bit of a challenge if you want to play by the rules.

So I dug the old Aerogarden Elite out of the rafters where it had been shoved after growing basil lost its novelty.

But where to get the seeds? It proved damn near impossible.

Fortunately, a civic-minded and kind Barfer stepped up and sent me a handful. They'd been sitting for a while, but I did get one to germinate.

Fast forward, and after yesterday thanks to some snipping and rooting hormone, that one is now four.

They're still a bit droopy from the shock, but regular misting with a light solution of filtered water and VF-11 seems to be doing the trick.

You need more media for a larger root system for a plant that size. What are you transplanting into? Cocoa mix?
Beware of aeroponic systems, they breed lots of things that are bad for the plant unless cleaned well regularly.

are you trying to grow bud, or just playing with the plant? Your current setup isn't large enough to produce much of anything, IMO.

It really doesn't take much skill to grow weed. It's called weed for a reason; it's basically just a big tropical weed. Give it lots of powerful light (make sure you have the right bulbs) for 18 hours a day, plenty of soil, a high nitrogen fertilizer, lots of water but don't drown it obviously. as it grows rapidly prune regularly to encourage branching. The bud grows out of the branching areas so you need lots of branching. Once your plants are several feet high and wide you can move to 12 hours of light and start the budding phase. watch carefully and as soon as you spot the male plants, remove them and kill them. wait until the buds stops growing. harvest sooner if you want a cerebral high. harvest later if you want a stony high. The plants die and you start over.

I've been collecting seeds from bud I have and I have a fair supply if anyone needs but I don't know what kind and there's a 50% chance they're male.

I've successfully and legally ordered seeds from Amsterdam. You can get auto-flowering and feminized seeds.

And yeah that won't work....it's too small for a plant.

I built two space buckets with fans and lights if anyone wants to buy one from me at cost as I switched to a grow tent.

I grew for a really long time. Indoors and outdoors. I found aeroponics quite easy and had a group of friends who traded clones. I once grew a huge hermaphrodite plant that gave me a billion seeds. I spent a year dropping them in planter boxes, golf courses, pretty much anywhere they would grow in public. I was "Johnny Potseed." Oh, stopped growing due to wifes complaining about the house constantly stinking and not beeing able to bring friends over.

Funny I was thinking of doing that in the local park.

Mine is in the garage and pipes out the door so there's no smell of any significance right now.

Potting soil. :toothless

Those are just to transplant later or give away.

Just playing around for now until I figure out the sex of the plant.

If it is female, I've got a higher power LED unit to clone into.

I have read up a bit and the conventional wisdom is that you won't get much out the Aerogarden. But I'm pretty sure it can be done: http://www.rollitup.org/t/aerogarden-bounty-led-final-results.902293/

as it grows rapidly prune regularly to encourage branching
.

As you can see in the pic, that was my first mistake: I let the plant run up too much before topping and pruning.

:thumbup Thanks!

Are you sure about "locked"? I was going to put my two in the (fenced) back yard in the spring. They've gone from a couple of inches to almost 3 feet and I don't care to do the whole indoor grow thing.

I just got done doing a scrog with my latest harvest. I do lots of low stress training when they are clones to maximize their potential. I think the scrog was the best idea ever

Got it from here: https://ballotpedia.org/California_Proposition_64,_Marijuana_Legalization_(2016) I can't imagine you'd get any trouble about a fenced yard as long as they're not visible from the street.

Do you use low stress training to keep the plant short and wide?

Will have to give that a try.

I hope you live rurally, but probably not given that your location is San Francisco. Kind of rude to make your neighbors smell it instead of keeping it inside your own walls.

Since I was growing in my basement I installed a clean out and vented down the sewer. Still, when they were done and ready to harvest, you couldn't hide the smell.
