Hi all, long time! I have a question for you guys. What's your opinion on the 2015 Sherco 2.9 ST? There's one for sale locally but I know nothing about it or Shercos in general.

Hey Mistico, hope all is well down there. Not much of a Sherco guy but have read a bit about them. 12-15 they tried to put the fuel tank in the rear fender with a vacuum pump to assist getting gas to the carb. That was a troublesome system due to complexity and if you smashed the rear fender you were out major cash. Look on Trialscentral.com for more in depth info but most of the recommendations I've seen are try to avoid that era. GG may be going under again so maybe avoid that brand as well (not that you have a lot of options).

Ride safe and have fun!

Thanks for the info Luke.

Another one for you since you own a Scorpa: Any difference between the 2017 and 2018 Scorpa SC300 Factory?

I think they changed the shock from sachs to Reiger in 2018, that's about all, BNG stuff; 18/19 are pretty identical; fricken love my 18.

I too love my Sherco 2018 Factory, absolutely zero issues so far, upgraded waterpump to S3 aluminum impeller and it's a high flow, also have a flywheel on it to help with the transition from a 4 stroke back to the 2 stroke. I like the simplicity of a carbed bike over the FI models, and also like the better stability over my Beta as it knifed in turns more then once on me. Also the Scorpa and Shercos are almost identical except for the frames Scorpa turns a bit tighter. Mistico the 2015 Shercos weregood bikes there's were a couple of them in the club not to long ago but I only know of one now. Problem is registration with the older versions, unrecognizable numbers by the dmv, 2018 versions and up get red stickers here in Ca so they are legit. Best of luck and come ride with us and I'm sure you can ride both elemetal's and mine back to back to compare.

Well I've been working like mad and had no time to ride aside from the back yard, Thank goodness it has some good stuff to practice on, musta' hit the big log a hundred times working on clutch/throttle/unweight timing and think I finally got somewhere.

I can hit it three ways; jam the front tire in about 12" down; barely hit the top with the front tire; wheelie completely over it. These result in (1) double blip (2) zap (3) splat; as the log gets bigger you can only use 2,3 (over bar height). Watched a RY vid about it and he says "dig a hole then explode out of it." and that really helps with timing/weighting.

Another thing that helped was thinking about riding up the log rather than over it. Been working on holding pressure/no skidplate, to do that you have to lean back much farther than I have been. That loads the rear and as long as you slip the clutch or roll off you can drive up the thing. If I think about going over I load the front too much and lose drive too early causing the plate to hit.

Doubt it will do me much good this weekend as I got a few 5's last time from silly stuff but at least its progress.

I'm on my own this weekend, up Saturday morning, sleeping in my truck; can't wait to not work for a couple of days!

Does sound like progress Luke, try try again ! Yeah work is over rated...way over rated lol. I've been going up to the grow every weekend and mostly working but riding an hour or two every time. Have some great rocks I've uncovered in the front yard after cutting down acres of tall grass. Mostly working on tight turns with an obstacle like a big rock upon exiting the turn. Need to ride more and then some more again. Going up Sat with Francesca but staying in a lodge Sat night.

Nice Luke, feels good when you nail a technique down! Unfortunately I can't make the event this weekend, will be in LA.

Have only ridden bike once since last event so probably not a bad time to miss an event.

Assume you guys saw the FB posts about the fire at Carnegie? Afraid that entire Klin Canyon will be closed for a long time just the like the fences that are still up at the West end near the hill climbs. That fire was many many years ago.

Guess my driveway will be my practice area for a while :(

Well well another trial in the books, a lot of fun and another big turnout. This trial was a fun yet tough one for me, not sure how I ran led but a score of 28,34 and 27 kind of sums it up. I was beat all day beat I mean tired, spent the whole day Sat at our new property chasing down a short in the well pump that had me hiking up and down a hill in 97 degree heat half the day so I was tired. There were some big ups on Sun that had you puckering a bit but all in all were not that hard just a little scary at first. Just couldn't shake the cramping and fatigue so I live to fight another day. Had a lot of fun as usual and always great to see good friends. Cant wait till the next one !!

Yeah that trial had some tough stuff in it; that 6ft spatter on Section 1 had me psyched up the first time I hit it...Made a BUNCH of stupid mistakes on my first loop, almost went home they were so bad. 5 5's, 3 of which were for missed gates...no excuse for that. Got tired towards the end an did an endo in Rick's section (1 and clean on the other two loops) and looped it on Section 4 trying to get up the funky rock face rather than put a foot down...

Did well on most obstacles but need to practice a technical turn into an obstacle, that is where I take points. Howard even echoed that so it must be pretty obvious.

Weather was good; 69 riders Saturday and 62 Sunday so good turnout. Place was packed with big rigs so I parked way over at the West end of the property, glad I didn't have my trailer.

Blew out a fork seal in the last loop and need to do general service on the bike, then I'm ready for the next one...

From your posts and looking at the scores, looks like it was a tough trial.

I'm still waiting on my rear shock to be serviced on my 2010 bike, but hoping to get out to Carnegie for a few hours early Saturday. Will let you guys know how much is closed because of the fires.

A FB group called Goat Trail Riders had a video/post about how many trails not even near the fire were closed off. I hope we can still put on our trial on November.

I spoke to Howard about Carnegie and they are ready for it to be called off if we have to. With the lawsuits and fire only a real sit down with Jeremy will give us much insight into whether it will happen or not. Who knows, we may get another fire that seals the deal right before the event....

One thing Howard did mention is to get the insurance stuff with the additional insured set up and sent in to the state with enough time to do it twice in case they (the State) sees something amiss.

Found nasty rock rash on one of my fork tubes...leaking and will need to be replaced. Hope I can get one quickly from Mandy.

Wow that sucks, Carnagie and your fork tube... what were you saying about those fork tube protectors last time...lol. Hope it's not to $$$$ Ron has those awesome snap on fork protection ones for $79 love mine and yes new gouges from last weekend on them.

Food for thought, if the trial is cancelled due to the fire Francesca and I would love to throw a fun trial on gopher ridge property. No camping day use only but we could set 10 to 12 sections and have every one groupe check. Just a thought if things fall through.

Not a bad idea Sid! I put a request for some days off the week before the trial so I could help set things up. Let's hope we can still hold it (closed area boundary was already pushed back a little) but sounds like Gopher ridge is a good plan B.

Luke I wish I could help with the fork tube, but I only have spare Marzocchi tubes which won't help you any.

Yeah we may want to do a plan B at the Grow. Main issue is parking and making sure everyone drives real mellow on that road, nobody would be expecting 40 or more cars on it...

Fork tube is north of $600; kinda sucks. Lewisport has them listed for the Vert for about 350 but mine comes from RYP, not sure why there is such a difference. Those protectors look more appealing now but they are so damn ugly! Guess I'll have to chose between vanity and money...

We'd do a fun trial at the old property, more parking and easier access. Those for guards com in white, black and carbon fiber looking. Sorry for the sticker price.
